Rescue Me ID: 17-08-31-00498Marshall (male)

Great Dane Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Marshall is an approximately 11 month old likely 'Danebull' (Great Dan/Pitbull mix). While his DNA has not been done, this was the vet's most likely guess! He is a good dog - VERY smart - and loves to be praised! He is neutered, chipped and is up to date on all of his vaccinations. As of August 5, he had just had Sentinel for heartworm prevention. How Marshall came to be in need of a home: Emily, a doula, found herself being an accidental foster parent for Marshall after delivering a baby for a client who went into labor early. Emily took Marshall into her home when the client and new baby were facing eviction as the owner had not ... (Read More)registered Marshall and he was not permitted in the apartment. Emily, who already had a rescued dog, agreed to foster Marshall only until the client made other arrangements. Overwhelmed with a new baby, the client made no attempt to find a home for Marshall and relinquished him to Emily. Unfortunately, Emily travels frequently across the country for work and cannot commit the time and resources necessary to provide adequate time and attention for Marshall, as it was never her intent to provide his forever home. With that said, making sure Marshall finds the 'right' home is of utmost importance to Emily. Marshall currently splits time between Emily's apartment in Richmond and Emily's parents' home in Fredericksburg, VA. It is only right that Marshall find a more relaxed pace in his forever home. About Marshall: Marshall is a lively puppy who would really enjoy a large yard or large lot as long as he could be inside and in a lap at the end of the day. He has lots of energy and is much happier when he can run! He is a really good guy and loves nothing more than to hear the words 'You are a good boy, Marshall' - that is better than a treat for him! Marshall is such a baby and has anxiety issues if separated for long. He gets along well with other canine and kitty pals and is a fierce protector of his 'tribe' if he perceives that someone is threatening his humans. He does not bite, but he does love to place your forearm in his mouth and 'guide' you to where you wants you to be. He knows to 'sit', 'stay' and will make great eye contact (and maintain it) for a treat. Marshall is great on a leash and loves to walk....he is also a good driving companion. At home, and in the car, Marshall loves to sit 'Dane' style, with his bottom on the seat, and his front legs on the floor. While Marshall is 'largish' - about 60 lbs and 4 feet when standing on his back legs - he thinks himself a 'lapdog' and will cheerfully sit in your lap whenever he can! (Less)

This is Duck. He is a big boy weighing 89 pounds. He was heartworm positive but has been treated and is now on preventative. Won't you come meet this sweet boy and give him his forever home? He definitely needs a fenced in area to run in. Duck likes kids but he is rambunctious and would do best with older children who can hold their own.

Scooby is a sweet boy, roughly 2 years old. He came from the TX shelter on his last day. He LOVES people but can be dog selective. He is kenneled alone. He hasn't been bothered by the other dogs around him but did not get along with his kennel mates in the shelter.. He was the boss. He has so much love to give and so young. He weighs 60lbs but is still growing.. He is crated trained, we think housetrained. He will be neutered, current on all shots, microchipped.. His adoption fee is $200. Please consider giving this big boy a chance of a forever home..

PIease Read Before Adopting a Great Dane in Virginia
Great Dane Dogs can make good pets in Virginia if they match your IifestyIe. The Great Dane is an enormous, but extremely gentle breed often referred to as the Gentle Giant. Great Danes are kind, loyal, and sociable. They need to be around people. Great Danes are gentle, devoted, and wonderful with children, but should be supervised with little ones because of their large size. Great Danes should be well trained as puppies. Great Danes can live in an apartment with enough daily exercise but do best with a large yard.
