I have had him since he was 6 weeks old and I love him dearly. He was my dream dog I am not in a hurry to rehome him so a perfect home is what I am looking for. He knows all of his commands sit, down, off, stand, wait, shake, speak, take it, leave it, drop etc. I have had him in obedience class since he was 10 weeks old. He is the most beautiful harlequin dane I have ever seen. He has had his stomach stapled to prevent torsion in the event of a bloat and he is up to date on all his shots. He gladly gets in the shower with me weekly and rolls over and gives me his paw to dremel all his toe nails. He allows me to brush and use dental ... (Read More)tools on his teeth to keep them clean. He love riding in the car with us and is kennel as well as house trained. No accidents. Now the bad, He seems dominate over my younger children and growls at them so I would only adopt him out to a home that has calm over 5 years of age children. He loves my 6 year old. My children are good with him never teasing him or climbing on him so please don't think that you toddler will behave and be ok. I have never had to rehome a dog and I am devastated that I am looking into this option but as much as I try he just isn't a good fit for my family. I think this next problem is part my fault as I am sacred he will bite and I think he feels that and it makes him think he has to protect me but he wont allow a stranger in our home child or adult. He acts like he wants to eat them which in a great dane is very intimidating I am not afraid of him at all but to have this huge dog with a huge voice try to eat out guests is a horrible event. We recently had a dog loving confident calm friend stay the week with us and I had to board him at a kennel because even after a few days they made friends then he would still out of the blue try and go after him. It just wasn't a safe situation. I have 5 kids and none of their friends can come over unless I kennel him and then there still the crazy dog in the cage going on. I have done all I know and sought out professional advise to correct this problem to no avail. Again it might be my fault something I am doing. I fear dog fights and don't like to be in situations where my dog will get hurt and during dog class have had my stomach flip flop having to walk him around other dogs that he was known to charge at for fear that there might be a time that I don't control him. He is ok with our two house cats but they are smart and don't run however if they did I have no doubt that he would chase them. He goes to a cage free dog kennel for boarding and all the dogs are out together in groups and he has never had a problem. he seems to prefer smaller dogs. he is scared at first when going but warms up later to staff and dogs. I am trying to be as through as possible because I want to you know all there is to know about him so he will find the best home. medically he is very healthy now but he hasn't always been. He got HOD when he was about 5 months old and we had 2 relapses. that was so hard on him and me but he has no sign of any damage from it. he has beautiful confirmation. I wont go into describing what HOD is I would hope that anyone looking for a dane would take the time to know dane related issues or alredy be educated about it. Also when he was about 4 months old he chewed and swallowed a beanie baby with a silicone pacifier attached to it. the beanie baby came out but the pacifier got lodged in his intestines and he had emergency surgery to remove it. He has made a full recovery however he still will eat non food items and has to be watched closely. with 5 kids its very had to have everything picked up all the time. I am a stay at home mom so I am with him all the time but he has still managed to have about 15 or more situations of him swallowing socks, gloves, toys, and most recently about 50 hair bands. This had settled down a bit now that he is almost 2 years old but the hair bands were just 2 weeks ago. He is in his kennel at night to sleep and whenever we leave our home to protect him. he goes in willingly and sleeps great thru the night. If he whines something is wrong. otherwise he is great about sleeping thru the night. He has acres of land to run on now and does run a few times a day. Please ask me any questions I haven't addressed here and only consider him if you are able to better handle him than I. I will want to see your home and meet all of the people that will be in his new family before any adoption takes place. I will also need vet refrences. He is a great dog with issues I am unequipped to work him through. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Great Dane in Tennessee
Great Dane Dogs can make good pets in Tennessee if they match your IifestyIe. The Great Dane is an enormous, but extremely gentle breed often referred to as the Gentle Giant. Great Danes are kind, loyal, and sociable. They need to be around people. Great Danes are gentle, devoted, and wonderful with children, but should be supervised with little ones because of their large size. Great Danes should be well trained as puppies. Great Danes can live in an apartment with enough daily exercise but do best with a large yard.
