Great Dane    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament

Pepper - available to locals adoptees on foster-to-adopt contract - came to WEGDR on (3/24/16) after being taken from dreadful conditions at a BYB. We estimate her to be almost 2 years old. She's very underweight. Pepper has suffered some sort of serious trauma to her front right shoulder that did not heal well. X-rays were taken today of her shoulder and elbow and will be having corrective surgery soon. Pepper is in high spirits even with her leg injury and her young age will allow her to heal and adjust quickly. Pepper is also heartworm positive so she will need treatment for this as well. please visit our website ... (Read More) for more information about our adoption process and to fill out an adoption application! Her adoption fee will be $450. (Less)

We rescued flash from animal control the morning they were going to put him down. We believe he a mix of Hound and Great Dane. He weighs 96 pounds. He stays outside but comes in to his crate and sleeps with us at night. He is very friendly and loves getting petted and hugged. He needs a fenced yard with a 6-8 foot fence. He would make a great pet and is full of love. I would keep him if I did not have 11 other rescues. Please only inquire if you are willing to give him a safe loving home. Do not want him just tied up in the yard a home visit may be required.

Rescue Me ID: 15-05-16-00310Stella (female)

Great Dane    Age: Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Stella! Breed: Great Dane Gender: Female Date into Rescue: 05/02/2014 Reason for being in rescue : Stella's previous owners surrendered her to the shelter after she developed tumors, likely from being bred too much. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? yes - behavior Weight: Est 100 lbs Height: Est 30' at the shoulder Age: We think Stella was born around May of 2010 What can I say about a big spotty girl with lot and lots of attitude. Stella came to CPR because of her health but she's still with us because of her behavior. Stella can't be trusted with people she does not know. That's the key - ... (Read More)if Stella knows you and you're a firm and experienced handler, she's your best friend. If not, watch out. Stella has many good qualities and is a fun dog to be around if she has accepted you. She is stunningly good looking, a large girl with a large heart for those she loves and trusts. Stella loves toys and she can be found collecting so she can keep them tidy and neat. She's a hoarder but not really for any caregiver can walk in at any time and help themselves to her toy collection and she's happy to share. Leave it laying on the kennel floor and she'll fetch it and put it back where it belongs, in her run. She's a very neat girl. Stella loves big, fluffy beds but she also has been known to get so excited she eats the darn thing. We go through beds with her. Right now, Stella is sleeping on a big Kuranda bed with a fluffy comforter recycled from Goodwill. That seems to be working for her. Stella loves to play with other dogs and she'll romp and play just like a standard poodle and she can run and jump, wrestle and roll with the best of them. Stella has never met a dog she didn't like and she especially seems to like poodles and doodles. It's people that drive her a bit crazy and we don't know why. We've had her checked from top to toe and no physical issues. She eats grain free food to keep her skin fresh and healthy but other than that, she is as healthy now as she can possibly be. Eye sight was suspected but it's just fine. So is her hearing. But there is something about certain people that sets her off and when that happens, Stella uses her teeth. We've only seen one incident of aggression out of Stella here that was short and did not result in any damage. All the caregivers love her. We placed her once and she came back with a history of biting and biting hard. When that happens we stop, we observe and we try to figure out what happened for there is always a trigger, you just need to figure out what it is. So far it seems to be somewhat resource guarding. For the rest, I don't know. Stella is adoptable to the person with a ton of experience and a firm grasp of doggie discipline. They must understand that if they give this girl direction and focus, she will give them back a devotion that will be unlike any they have ever seen. If not - then trouble will happen. If interested in adopting Stella, you must have a fenced in yard prefer 6' privacy and one other large dog. No children under 18 years old. No cats. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Great Dane in South Carolina
Great Dane Dogs can make good pets in South Carolina if they match your IifestyIe. The Great Dane is an enormous, but extremely gentle breed often referred to as the Gentle Giant. Great Danes are kind, loyal, and sociable. They need to be around people. Great Danes are gentle, devoted, and wonderful with children, but should be supervised with little ones because of their large size. Great Danes should be well trained as puppies. Great Danes can live in an apartment with enough daily exercise but do best with a large yard.
