Great Dane    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hello. My vet has recommended that my baby girl and senior Great Dane be put down and I'm frantically searching for other options. Ava Marie will be 9 years old on January 30th. She is my baby. I'm the only owner she's ever had. Ava did not handle the birth of my son Oliver well in 2013, and we've been concerned with her aggression toward him for some time. This morning, she bit him on the face. It wasn't a warning nip, which he's gotten a few of before, but a full-blown bite. Half-an-inch further up and we would've been at the ER having his eye treated. My heart is broken. Ava is a wonderful dog. She is sweet and protective and every bit ... (Read More)the snuggler Great Danes are known for. She has excellent breeding. Both of her parents were show dogs, though her litter was an accident (you can't show a black Dane with white markings on the chest). She is a one-person dog, however. She does not care for other pets or small children. She absolutely adores older children and women. I will do anything to not put her down. I want to be completely upfront about Ava's flaws and her wonderfulness to any potential home. She would be a great fit for someone living alone who would like to have a big buddy around, and I think she still has a few years left in her. Most days she still runs around like a pup! I sincerely hope you can help me. Feel free to email or call, 918-409-6028. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Great Dane in Oklahoma
Great Dane Dogs can make good pets in Oklahoma if they match your IifestyIe. The Great Dane is an enormous, but extremely gentle breed often referred to as the Gentle Giant. Great Danes are kind, loyal, and sociable. They need to be around people. Great Danes are gentle, devoted, and wonderful with children, but should be supervised with little ones because of their large size. Great Danes should be well trained as puppies. Great Danes can live in an apartment with enough daily exercise but do best with a large yard.
