Rescue Me ID: 14-10-17-00753Emily Pepper (female)
Emily was born about June 13, 2008 and weighs about 100 lbs. She is wonderful with the other dogs and he does need another dog in her next life. She came in with a partner and they are very close. We understand that it is highly unlikely we will be able to place them together, but they will adjust to a new life partner just as us humans must sometimes. We are told she is good with kids and even cats. She did very well on her long car ride here and is anxious for her next, and final, life change. Will it be with you? All our dogs from the south have been tested for heart worm. We have discovered a scar on her left rear thigh and her left eyelid seems a bit lazy and the pupil in this eye is always dilated. We suspect maybe she was hit by a car long ago. Her skeleton seems very sound, especially if she is as old as we were told. This dog's life was spared due to our incredible FACEBOOK FANS!!!!! An e-mail came to JR begging us to help the southern shelter just a few hours before they were to be killed! Money has been a little tight around here and I (Joye) knew we didn't have the financial means to make the trip that tends to run about $800.00. But, you all came through and we were able to maximize the trip to 19 dogs out of Kentucky along with a side trip to West Virginia!!! Thank you to Susan & Denise for making this LONG journey and to Katie for meeting them here after midnight to help unload. To everyone that made this happen - THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-10-17-00137Nala (female)
Everyone meet Nala (formally Marsha). She is roughly 4-5 months olds with green eyes to die for. Nala is 1 of a litter of 7 (yes 7 lol) that was going to be euthanized due to lack of space and funding at the shelter. We just could not allow these puppies to die, so HSH Rescue welcomed them with open arms :) Nala is super sweet and gets along fabulously with other dogs. We're working on Potty training and some other basic puppy manners though she has already mastered walking pretty on a leash and sitting for a treat. She is afraid of loud noises but shows the vacuum who's boss. She had a bit of mange that she is slowly recovering from and will soon finish treatment. These pups appear to be lab/dane mixes with some pitty possibly. They are HUGE for their age. Already 35-40 pounds and growing fast! Nala is UTD on all vaccinations, flea treated, dewormed, and has her rabies vaccination. She will be spayed as soon as she is done with her meds for the mange (not contagious). She can be adopted now. The spay is included in her $250 adoption fee. We will set the appointment, at our vet, and go over everything with you. If interested in this beauty, please fill out our online application at homesweethomerescue.org. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-10-11-00224Prince (male)
Friendly Prince is approx. 10 months old. He's one of the most affectionate pups we have at Hopeful Tails Nyack, NY. This guy is ready to be someones loyal companion. We can't say enough nice things about him. Just a guess that he's got a bit of Great Dane mix. Not a huge dog, though. He may fill out to 65 pounds. Call 845-353-3599 to ask Gerry about the lovely Prince.

Rescue Me ID: 14-10-01-00099Lucky (male)
This handsome guy named Lucky is a big old softy! He is one of the most laid back dogs ever! Even when treats are being handed out, he just hangs back and waits until the other dogs have stopped all crowding around to get his. LUCKY can be a little apprenhensive going to new places and so he will need some patience and positive reinforcement when going to new places for the first time, but once he has been there a while he settles into his laid back demeanor. Although laid back, LUCKY of course LOVES to play with the other dogs, he plays with toys and he wrestles and rolls around with the other dogs. He has not ever shown any sign of aggression, he eats and lives with all the other dogs of all ages and sizes. LUCKY does use a dog door and hasn't had any accidents, however, in his new home he would need to adjust to being on a new routine with a new family and would also need to learn how to let you know he needs to go outside. Lucky is an 'honorary German Shepherd' in a German Shepherd rescue in TX. We use Rescue Road Trips to deliver these wonderful dogs to loving homes up north. The next transport is filling up fast, so get your app in now for this special hunk! Go to www.giveadogahome-sanantonio.org and complete an application NOW! (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Great Dane in New York
Great Dane Dogs can make good pets in New York if they match your IifestyIe. The Great Dane is an enormous, but extremely gentle breed often referred to as the Gentle Giant. Great Danes are kind, loyal, and sociable. They need to be around people. Great Danes are gentle, devoted, and wonderful with children, but should be supervised with little ones because of their large size. Great Danes should be well trained as puppies. Great Danes can live in an apartment with enough daily exercise but do best with a large yard.
