|Rescue Me ID: 14-10-10-00166Sampson ('Sam') (male)|
Sampson is a 7 year old male Great Dane. He is small for his breed because as a puppy he had to be on steroids which stunted his growth. Sampson does have medical conditions that require monthly medications. Only SERIOUS inquiries will be considered. Sampson is loving, partially trained (behaviorally and potty-wise), and has some separation/anxiety issues. We rescued him from an abandonment situation, got him back on his meds, but with full time jobs, Sampson had to be left with our other Dane in the house during the day. He currently cannot be trusted to be left in the house without a human. He is happy outside in his large fenced-in yard with his dog house, but I know he wants to spend more time inside, and with winter around the corner, he needs a home that he can stay warm and cozy in. We tried to make it work for Sampson, but it just isn't a fit for our family. We love him very much and will be sad to see him go, but Sampson needs a family with more time to spend focused on him and his needs. Anyone interested will need to be fully informed on Sampson's medical needs. (Less)

|Rescue Me ID: 13-10-28-00294Jake (male)|
Hey I am Jake. My family dropped me at the shelter because I chased some cats : ( So I should really go to a cat free home. I also dont like ALL dogs, but do like some dogs. I just dont like it when they are pushy, I need time to warm up to them, thats all. I am only 2 years old so I still like to run and romp and play. I know how to sit and shake, and I love love love playing with toys... I am still working on fetch, but I sure do like trying. I think I might be a lab x grate Dane mix. You cant tell in my photos but I am a pretty big guy and much lankier than a regular lab. Do you have a spot in your family for me?

Great Dane Dogs can make good pets in Kentucky if they match your IifestyIe. The Great Dane is an enormous, but extremely gentle breed often referred to as the Gentle Giant. Great Danes are kind, loyal, and sociable. They need to be around people. Great Danes are gentle, devoted, and wonderful with children, but should be supervised with little ones because of their large size. Great Danes should be well trained as puppies. Great Danes can live in an apartment with enough daily exercise but do best with a large yard.
