|Rescue Me ID: 18-03-06-00242Stryder (male)|
Stryder is a black lab/great dane mix. He is high energy, loves water and swimming. He is smart, trainable, but requires patience and training. He was adopted by us as a 1 year old who had been abused, so he does have a few issues. He has separation anxiety and gets very protective of his humans. He is a lap dog who is very sweet and loving and adores his people. We have a swimming pool that he gets into every day in the summer and swims laps. He loves to play with the ball and enjoys the company of other animals. He ignores cats but does love to eat from their sandbox. I have often described his personality as a blend of Marmaduke and Tigger. He needs space to run, people that are around often. He is crate trained, but doesn't like it when he's left there for long. That was part of the abuse he suffered as a puppy. We love this dog and if it weren't for a move across the country to a smaller house with a smaller yard we would not be surrendering him. (Less)

|Rescue Me ID: 18-03-06-00153Gus (male)|
Gus loves to play but is also very timid and protective. Gus is also very eager to please. Gus takes his food very seriously and must eat alone. He is house broken and crate trained. Gus would be good with older kids but not small kids. Gus is spooked easily. He even ran from a kitten.

Great Dane Dogs can make good pets in Kentucky if they match your IifestyIe. The Great Dane is an enormous, but extremely gentle breed often referred to as the Gentle Giant. Great Danes are kind, loyal, and sociable. They need to be around people. Great Danes are gentle, devoted, and wonderful with children, but should be supervised with little ones because of their large size. Great Danes should be well trained as puppies. Great Danes can live in an apartment with enough daily exercise but do best with a large yard.
