Rescue Me ID: 16-02-09-00419Nikki (female)

Great Dane Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Nikki is a Great Dane mix (we believe her daddy was a Lab), current on her shots and has been spayed. She will be 1 years old on February 14th and is a very big girl, but not as big as most Great Danes. She looks like a big Lab.%A0 I haven't weighed her lately but I would guess she is about 80 to 90 lbs. She knows how to sit, lay, fetch a ball and bring back but she doesn't always want to drop it!%A0 She likes for you to fight her for the ball, but she will drop also!%A0 She understands the word 'Back' so you can throw the ball to her and she loves to catch it in the air!%A0 She is very sweet and loving but also very hyper ... (Read More)and loves to play.%A0 I believe she is going to be a great dog when she grows out of her puppy stage.%A0 She is very head strong and likes to grab sock, napkins, etc and have you chase her.%A0 Like all Great Danes, she is very noisy about what is on your counters, so watch out for food!%A0 She loves to play with other animals, sometimes a little too much! %A0 I would recommend if you have any other animals, have her meet them first before bringing her home. Her biggest downfall is she does not get along with small children.%A0 Small children are very loud and active and I think it makes her nervous, she has snapped at children but has never bitten. I have a 14 and 11 year old and she is fine with them.%A0 She does not like loud instruments either.%A0 She loves to go on walks (this is my favorite time with her).%A0 She knows the words 'heel' and 'let's go'.%A0 She wants to lead the way but is pretty good on a leash.%A0 She is also kenneled trained and house trained but the kennel will not be coming with her.%A0 Her food and water bowl, leash, collar, blanket, bed and all her toys will come with her!%A0%A0 Where I live, she does not have a place she can just run, so if you have land for her to run, she would be in heaven! It breaks my heart to have to do this. If you are interested in meeting her, please contact me at 317-607-3024. I don't want her to go to just anyone.%A0 I want her to be loved! (Less)

He is bigger than in the picture (it was taken on his 1st birthday) he's now around 160 pounds & eats 6-8 cups of food per day he is house broken bUT has had to be outside since we moved a few months ago. He really is a great dog and deserves a better life THAn a house and a kennel outside. He is very hyper and needs a lot of attention he was currently placed for adoption and showed agressive towards other dogs I believe he would be best as a one owner dog with someone who has experience with the breed to give him proper training and guidance.

He is just too much for us to manage. He really needs a place were he can run.. Will only give to right person.....

PIease Read Before Adopting a Great Dane in Indiana
Great Dane Dogs can make good pets in Indiana if they match your IifestyIe. The Great Dane is an enormous, but extremely gentle breed often referred to as the Gentle Giant. Great Danes are kind, loyal, and sociable. They need to be around people. Great Danes are gentle, devoted, and wonderful with children, but should be supervised with little ones because of their large size. Great Danes should be well trained as puppies. Great Danes can live in an apartment with enough daily exercise but do best with a large yard.
