Great Dane    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Harley is a 1 year old purebred Great Dane female that is safe with Dedicated to Dobermans Rescue. She's spayed, fully vaccinated, heartworm negative, and microchipped. She loves people but can take awhile to warm up since she's been passed around so many times. Harley likes other dogs that are easy going and not in her face and in her business all the time. She does need a fenced-in yard to run and play. She needs a family with children over 10 years old that have a lot of patience with her gentle and confused spirit. Harley is potty trained and crate trained and rides well in a car. She's well behaved in the house and not destructive. ... Rescue Me ID: 17-01-07-00159Luna (female)

Great Dane Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Luna is still a pup, maybe 8 months, and weighs about 45 ponds. We guess she may be some mix of hound and Great Dane. She isn't done growing, but won't be super huge. We think she might have some other breeds in her as well, but without knowing her full history it is hard to tell. Luna was abandoned a couple of months ago along with two adult dogs when her owners up and moved, leaving the pets behind. Luna was taken in by a family wanting to help, but they soon learned that they were not prepared for a puppy. We gladly accepted her into our program and want nothing but the best for her from here on out. Luna is quite the character. She is ... (Read More)very friendly, bouncy and happy. She loves to play with other dogs, but not all other dogs get her. She will need to an only dog or have a very playful dog buddy in her forever home. She likes to swat like a cat and run in circles while swinging her booty around as wiggly as possible--this doesn't appeal to everyone. Humans will watch and think it's hilarious and adorable at once. Luna's current foster siblings are older and not impressed with her play style. That is why her current foster is so temporary. We were told that Luna had been around cats, but we aren't so sure that she likes them. Maybe she is still getting used to her new environment, but cats don't seem to be welcome so far. Luna has been around children and would do fine around any that can handle her clumsiness. We don't want any little ones getting knocked over and hurt. When Luna isn't playing, she is cuddling. She is so sweet and really is a great dog. She loves toys, but she also loves to be with her people. She isn't used to leash walks right now and gets a little nervous if you travel too far from the house. Treats are great motivators though. She also knows how to sit and listens when being corrected. Luna is solidly housebroken and crate trained. Luna will be spayed, up to date on shots, heartworm tested, and microchipped prior to adoption. If you would like to offer this beauty a foster or foster-to-adopt home please complete an application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. Her adoption fee is $175. If you are interested in adopting two dogs, Luna and Cookie (also available through Pawswap are best friends.) (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Great Dane in Indiana
Great Dane Dogs can make good pets in Indiana if they match your IifestyIe. The Great Dane is an enormous, but extremely gentle breed often referred to as the Gentle Giant. Great Danes are kind, loyal, and sociable. They need to be around people. Great Danes are gentle, devoted, and wonderful with children, but should be supervised with little ones because of their large size. Great Danes should be well trained as puppies. Great Danes can live in an apartment with enough daily exercise but do best with a large yard.
