I'm a young, big, boy, maybe around 1yr, found on the streets of Chicago. I weigh about 75LBS and love to play with other big dogs who are my size. I'm crate trained and love to snuggle on the couch. Im a good boy who needs a foster or someone to adopt me. I walk well on a leash but need more basic training since I'm young. I love all people and need a home to call my own! Adoptions fees under $100.00

Looking for a patient big dog lover!! This is Zoloft, an Anatolian Shepard, Great Dane mix who is roughly 9 years old. Zoloft has some aggression and anxiety issues, but when worked through is really just one of the biggest, cuddliest, babies you could possibly meet. He can be intimidating to those that don't know him, because of his bark and his tendency to jump up on windows and doors to get a better view of who is coming around. He is hyper vigilant to his surroundings and if often trying to warn you of squirrels that pass by, or stray cats that get too close. With that in mind he does not do too well with smaller animals, especially ... (Read More)cats. He would probably do best as the sole animal of the house, but other dogs his size he will learn to get along with them as long as there are pack walks and treat training involved. Zoloft has an enormous heart; he just tends to let his anxiety take over. He needs a kind, patient owner who has the time to be with him, walk with him, and train him how to be calm in everyday situations. He is potty trained, and knows how to sit, lay down, and wait on command, though he may need some extra encouragement to do so from time to time, meaning that he can be incredibly stubborn. Zoloft would do best in a larger environment and with a gated back yard. He is pretty talented in getting out of small openings, so making sure that there are no breaches in the fence is a must. He does ok with older children but should be supervised around them when toys or extra special treats are involved just in case. The reason we are looking to re-home Zoloft is because at this time we do not have the availability to be with him as much as he needs, and our own schedules are crazy, so building a proper routine for him has not been an option. We really don't want to see him spend his last days in a no kill shelter, due to his issues, so that is why we wanted to be upfront with as much information as possible on what to expect. Please feel free to message me with any further questions, and pass along this, or share this so we can try to find him a better home. Thank you for your time. - with Bob Jeter. (Less)

Meet Shelton! DOB 8/20/16 Current weight 70lbs. Lab/Boxer/Great Dane Mix My name is Shelton and I came to Illinois from Kentucky with my country music brothers and sisters last year. I need to find a new forever family because my current family is working long hours and needs to crate me 9+ hours each day. I am great in my crate, but I really, really need more time to run and just be a dog. I would love to have a family that will keep me exercised and be around more often...maybe even run in the yard with me! I did rip apart the dog bed they put in my crate|but I was bored, so what else to do?? I also love to destroy fluffy toys, so ... (Read More)antlers and strong Kong Balls are better choices for me. I'm looking for a best friend to share some adventures with. I love spending time outside with people and other dogs. I am fully housebroken and I get along well with kids, other dogs. Although I am a big guy, I am full of kisses and cuddles and just like any other loving pup, at the end of the day, there is nothing that I like better than a good belly rub! Come meet me and see how much fun I am in person! Our standard adoption fee is $295 cash or check and $300 credit card ($5 processing fee). It includes spay/neuter when age appropriate at our participating vets, age appropriate core vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative,1st vet visit at one of our participating vets, and micro-chipping. We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family to approve an adoption. Please email safehavendogsIL@yahoo.com for an application or additional details. Please note that the breeds and sizes posted in this biography are educated best guesses and are not guaranteed. Please consider becoming a foster home while you search for your new best friend. We need foster homes - pounds are overflowing with puppies and adult dogs that are at-risk and need help. We can only rescue as many as we have foster home commitments. Fostering is a rewarding experience for your family. (Less)

Great Danes are kind, loyal, and sociable. They need to be around people. Great Danes are gentle, devoted, and wonderful with children, but should be supervised with little ones because of their large size. Great Danes should be well trained as puppies.
