Rescue Me ID: 18-03-10-00351Daphne (female)

Great Dane    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Free to the right home: Daphne is a 115-pound, 5-year-old pure-bred Great Dane, but I never sent off for her papers. She has been spayed and is current on all vaccines, including 3-year rabies & bordatella. She has no health problems that I know of. Her ears have not been clipped because that is a painful & unnecessary surgery. She is affectionate and smart. It is fun to take her out in public because she always attracts a lot of attention. She is friendly toward people and will make a great companion for someone who is retired or works from home. DAPHNE MUST BE THE ONLY DOG IN THE HOUSEHOLD. IF YOU HAVE OTHER DOGS, PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT ME. ... (Read More)She has become aggressive toward other dogs and she could accidentally harm another dog due to her size. I have three other dogs and that is why she needs another home. She is fine with my cat as well as with people of all ages (she spends a lot of time with my 1 and 3-year-old grandchildren and has never been aggressive toward them). Daphne must be an indoor dog and she sleeps on a twin mattress which I will send with her. She is used to getting on the furniture and should not be left alone for extended periods of time because dogs are pack animals and are not happy in isolation. She is housebroken but you will need to use a baby gate to keep her out of your kitchen because she is tall enough to help herself to whatever food is on your countertop. She will either need a fenced-yard, or you will need to commit to walking her on a leash 1-3 miles a day. I got Daphne from one of my hospice patients and I promised to find her a good home. I take this promise very seriously and I will be very particular about where she goes. I will need to visit your home and meet all of your household members before she is placed. I will also require you to sign an agreement to return her to me if she doesn't end up staying in your home. If you are still interested, please contact me at (706)255-3760. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Great Dane in Georgia
Great Dane Dogs can make good pets in Georgia if they match your IifestyIe. The Great Dane is an enormous, but extremely gentle breed often referred to as the Gentle Giant. Great Danes are kind, loyal, and sociable. They need to be around people. Great Danes are gentle, devoted, and wonderful with children, but should be supervised with little ones because of their large size. Great Danes should be well trained as puppies. Great Danes can live in an apartment with enough daily exercise but do best with a large yard.
