Oh this sweet girl, Gemma, is the typical Dane'|.a hugger and one who wants to be by your side. She loves to lean into you '|.always ready for some loving. She is affectionate and loves nothing better than being held and scratched behind her ears. And when you sit on the floor with her, she basically tries to climb into your lap..... even though that would take a rather big lap ! Her foster family calls her a clown!! When they go outside, she first runs around the yard in circles (Dane zoomies), then she comes back to foster Mom and tucks her head into her legs'|then looks up at her and dances from foot to foot, inviting her to play. ... (Read More)Silly Girl!!! In general, Gemma is a calm dog. Her foster Mom says Gemma would make a wonderful family pet, even with small children. After her initial shyness with the neighbor's kids, Gemma now lets them throw their arms around her and hug her tight'|'|and then rewards them with a face licking!!! Now that will make you smile! If you have any questions, please email us at gaheartland1@yahoo.com NOTE: Gemma's owner died and tragically her family (?) decided to take her wonderful pet to their local animal control. We rescued this treasure from there. Gemma is 5 years old, walks well on a leash, is spayed and current on all shots and heartworm preventive. (Less)

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet 'General' a handsome guy, so sweet and gentle, he'll make an incredible family boy. He loves to snuggle and give kisses, is gentle with kids/toddlers, loves people, plays well with other dogs and has a terrific personality, good level of pup energy. General is not a fan of cats, so he needs a 'cat-free' home. General is young, 7-8 months old, smart and eager to please, will be easy to train. He is already crate trained, progressing with his housebreaking (isolated accidents), walks good on a leash...And have I mentioned how adorably sweet he is?? General got his name because we found him abandoned at a Dollar General store...at ... (Read More)least we didn't name him Dollar. Poor baby was running around freely and was on the busy hwy, we were afraid he was going to be a victim of the road traffic. Anyway, he's safe now with his foster family, been the perfect house guest, just needs a home of his own. Please consider General for adoption, he's UTD on all his vaccinations, neutered, has a registered microchip and is on HW preventative. His mix of breed is a mystery, looks like Great Dane x (has long legs, will be a tall dog as an adult) ...he's 100% adorable. Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Aggressive, Fearful/Anxious

Please help! We adopted our handsome boy Otto from the shelter when he was about 4 months old. He was great with our cat, 3yr old daughter and newborn son. He has been to and graduated from obedience classes with small issues that we thought we had overcome. We have attempted to socialize him since he came home with us and he is now 1yr old and has not gotten better with other dogs or strangers. He is very protective when people come to the door or into the back yard. He does well with the gentle leader head harness that we use, but he doesn't respond to commands if in a regular harness or standard collar. He is very loyal and sweet to the ... (Read More)family, but he is very territorial and has developed food agression directed towards other dogs and a couple times towards a person. While he was staying with family, he bit three out of five of their dogs, shaking a smaller one and causing serious injuries. Though we love him with all of our hearts, we are increasingly worried that he will bite our daughter or her friends or potentially the baby if he crawls too close to him. He is in dire need of a home with no kids or other pets as he has a high prey drive that we have not been successful in training out of him. If anyone at all could please help our big leaning lap dog to find a home that can better suit his needs we would be eternally greatful! I am so scared that we may have to return him to the shelter we adopted him from, causing him more anxiety and potentially ending his life prematurely! Thank you for reading.     A loving great dane mx that still acts like a puppy. Maybe a year old or more. Loves girls and ladies the most but will warm up to guys pretty quick if they stand still and let her get to know them. Never bitten anyone since being with us (2 months). Bark is intimidating though. Would be a great watch dog for a gal. She weighs 80 lbs but acts like a lap dog. She loves to crawl up in my wife's lap.

PIease Read Before Adopting a Great Dane in Georgia
Great Dane Dogs can make good pets in Georgia if they match your IifestyIe. The Great Dane is an enormous, but extremely gentle breed often referred to as the Gentle Giant. Great Danes are kind, loyal, and sociable. They need to be around people. Great Danes are gentle, devoted, and wonderful with children, but should be supervised with little ones because of their large size. Great Danes should be well trained as puppies. Great Danes can live in an apartment with enough daily exercise but do best with a large yard.
