Rescue Me ID: 17-10-14-00302Birdie (female)
Brutus and Birdie (brother Brutus listed separately) are 2 yr old beautiful purebred Great Danes. Brutus is intact male and Birdie is a spayed female. We took both in when they were 10 days old, given away by a desperate owner that had a newborn child and no means of caring for 11 new puppies. Out intention was to keep one puppy and foster the other until a family adopted. They pulled through and are very healthy, though both lack social etiquette with other dogs. They are wonderful dogs, but we alone cannot give both puppies the attention and time they deserve. They need someone who has the time to intentionally train and socialize them. We would love to see Brutus and Birdie find a new home where they have room to play and can receive the attention they deserve. They've been inseparable since birth. Brutus has shown fear aggression with two potential adoptive candidate's current dogs. It leads us to believe that he would be best placed with someone that does not have other pets, and as a precaution in transitioning, someone without children. We would prefer they stay together. without papers. Serious inquiries only. We will call serious applicants to discuss suitability. Great Dane rescue farms and agencies are welcome to contact. We are seeking an adoptive family with urgency. Our schedules have become so that we simply cannot adequately care for them anymore but must find the right adoptive family. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-09-21-00331Napoleon (male)
NAPOLEON WILL BE ADOPTED TO AN EXPERIENCED GUARDIAN BREED HOME ONLY ABOUT ME: Napoleon is a charming 7 year old Mastiff-Great Dane mix that is looking for a quiet place to spend his senior years. He is a lower-energy boy that loves to hang out with his people, sleep on the bed, sunbathe and go for car rides. Napoleon has sterling house manners: he is housebroken, crate-trained, and totally trustworthy when left out of his kennel. WHAT I NEED IN A HOME: Through no fault of his own, Napoleon got shuffled around quite a bit after his owner dropped him off at the shelter, and as a result, Napoleon can be wary of strangers and slow to warm up. He needs a forever home that understands that building trust takes time, and will allow him to come around on his own time. Once Napoleon becomes comfortable with his new surroundings, he transforms into a total love-bug and wants to be near his people as much as possible. Because he's an older guy, he tends to get overwhelmed by noisy and high-stimulus environments and would prefer a more laid-back and quiet household. An adults-only home would be ideal. Napoleon has cohabitated large dogs after a proper introduction but does not enjoy the company of the smaller breeds or cats. THE DETAILS: Napoleon is neutered, fully vaccinated, micro-chipped, and will be done with heartworm treatment in October. He is excellent on a leash, knows how to use a doggy door, and has mastered basic obedience. For more information on Napoleon or any of our other dogs, please email us at: firstname.lastname@example.org. Ready to give Napoleon the forever home of his dreams? Fill out our Adoption Application, located at www.bullpenrescue.org under the 'work with us' tab. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We highly recommend that our potential adopters fill out an online application as soon as possible, as it greatly expedites the process of finding the right dog for your situation. If you choose not to fill out an application before inquiring about a particular dog, please briefly tell us about yourself, family, and lifestyle since this will help us determine if the dog you're interested in is a good match. Our dogs are available for adoption nationwide but preference is given to adopters willing to do an in-person meeting. Please understand that our dogs are not adopted on a first-come, first-serve basis, but rather we strive for a 'perfect placement' so we know that they will not be failed again. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-04-25-00145Toby (male)
Toby is a big boy (Great Dane/Boxer mix) with a goofy grin that hides the loneliness in his big heart. Toby has been with us for 5 months and though he is a head turner, no one has pursued adoption. Toby is 1 1/2 years old and spends every day waiting by his gate in hopes that someone will stop and be his friend. Toby does not realize his strength and can easily knock over a small person in playing until he has had some training. He does not like cats...not at all! He does not show any interest in friendship with the other dogs and he may be indicating his preference to be an only dog. He is a good boy who would like to be on his way home. His adoption fee is $100. There is a video of an excited joyful Toby on our facebook page that was posted Apr 23. https://www.facebook.com/smithgallhumanesociety/ Our newly launched website http://smithgallhumanesociety.org/ has all info regarding adoption polices and procedures under tab 'All Adoptable Animals'. Please read them before applying. A fill-able application form under same tab can be completed and submitted online. All of our residents require an adopter approval process as we strive to place them in homes which will meet their needs and keep them safe. We do not ship nor transport our residents. Approved adopters must come to the shelter to accompany their new family member on the journey home. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a 'No kill' shelter which provides quality care and the medical services of spay/neuter-all vaccines, deworming, vet exam, standard disease testing and monthly heart worm prevention treatment for dogs. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Animals are primarily owner relinquished. The facility usually is operating at full capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open. Adoption hours are Tues-Sat 10-4 and Sun 1-4. Contact or visit CSHS, 4823 Helen Hwy. 75N, Sautee, GA 30571, phone: 706-865-4135 email: email@example.com . The shelter is located 4 miles south of the alpine town of Helen in the NE Georgia mountains. (Less)

Great Dane Dogs can make good pets in Georgia if they match your IifestyIe. The Great Dane is an enormous, but extremely gentle breed often referred to as the Gentle Giant. Great Danes are kind, loyal, and sociable. They need to be around people. Great Danes are gentle, devoted, and wonderful with children, but should be supervised with little ones because of their large size. Great Danes should be well trained as puppies. Great Danes can live in an apartment with enough daily exercise but do best with a large yard.
