Rescue Me ID: 15-01-27-00284Otto (male)
Please help! We adopted our handsome boy Otto from the shelter when he was about 4 months old. He was great with our cat, 3yr old daughter and newborn son. He has been to and graduated from obedience classes with small issues that we thought we had overcome. We have attempted to socialize him since he came home with us and he is now 1yr old and has not gotten better with other dogs or strangers. He is very protective when people come to the door or into the back yard. He does well with the gentle leader head harness that we use, but he doesn't respond to commands if in a regular harness or standard collar. He is very loyal and sweet to the family, but he is very territorial and has developed food agression directed towards other dogs and a couple times towards a person. While he was staying with family, he bit three out of five of their dogs, shaking a smaller one and causing serious injuries. Though we love him with all of our hearts, we are increasingly worried that he will bite our daughter or her friends or potentially the baby if he crawls too close to him. He is in dire need of a home with no kids or other pets as he has a high prey drive that we have not been successful in training out of him. If anyone at all could please help our big leaning lap dog to find a home that can better suit his needs we would be eternally greatful! I am so scared that we may have to return him to the shelter we adopted him from, causing him more anxiety and potentially ending his life prematurely! Thank you for reading. Please contact me for more pictures or information. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-01-16-00625Stanley (male)
Stanley has quite a story to tell and has been in his life through hell and back. Coming from a kill shelter, adopted by a young man who wasn't able to take care of him. He had a tail injury and instead of going to the vet, the man tried to deal with it himself and tight up his tail with plastic tape. Not only did no air get to it and it got horribly infected, he also taped it to tight that he stopped the blood circulation and Stanley' s tail basically rotted off his body. After the man's parents contacted us, we rushed Stanley, who was also very underweight into surgery and had to amputate his tail. He is fully recovered now and weighs stunning 110 LBS. He is a wild child and need someone with a strong hand and experience. He gets very excited and pull your sleeve to play and might jump. It can be very intimidating because of his size, but he is still a puppy and just don't know better. Stanley is very smart and reacts to correction very well.. A week or two intensive obedience training and he will be fixed. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-01-02-00044Dina (female)
Please meet Dina,we think she's a mix of PB and maybe Great Dane, has the longest legs! Photos don't do her justice. Dina has completed her quarantine and is looking for a foster family. She's crate trained, housebroken, walks good on a leash, and great with other dogs. She's had basic vetting, but still needs to gain some much needed weight before being spayed. This poor baby is still a bag of bones, she was found dumped in a park, emaciated and half starved...you could see every bone in her body protruding, she was about 20lbs underweight when found. Dina is a sweetheart, a goofy, silly girl, about 6 months old and promises to be good. Submit offers to foster at website, ruffdogrescue.com. Foster must be able to attend adoption events in Milton or Dunwoody. All of our animals are examined by a veterinarian, given age-appropriate vaccinations, dewormed, heartworm tested and treated if necessary. Vet references and a home inspection prior to adoption are required. Adoption fee applies. For more information about adopting one of our rescue dogs, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or submit an application on our RUFF RESCUE website, www.ruffdogrescue.com (Less)

A loving great dane mx that still acts like a puppy. Maybe a year old or more. Loves girls and ladies the most but will warm up to guys pretty quick if they stand still and let her get to know them. Never bitten anyone since being with us (2 months). Bark is intimidating though. Would be a great watch dog for a gal. She weighs 80 lbs but acts like a lap dog. She loves to crawl up in my wife's lap.

Rescue Me ID: 14-09-27-00559Ranger (male)
Ranger is full of personality. He is a nervous guy who had a rough start in life. He loves people but it takes him a while to trust as well. Once he does though, he is your best friend for life! His facial expressions and grunts will have you laughing constantly and he will talk to you with grunts (especially during bath time-his least favorite activity in life) He is a Boxer/Dane mix. He is utd on shots, hw negative, crate and house trained.

Rescue Me ID: 14-08-03-00495Buster (male)
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Charles-Smithgall-Humane-Society-and-Adoption-Center/548822128495391 Buster-is a golden Great Dane mix who is the tallest dog in the shelter. He is a gentle boy who was pulled from impending euthanasia at the local Animal Control. His good fortune then went into a hold status as he waited day after day for someone to want a big boy in their life. He has been waiting 10 months. Buster is unable to draw any interest and has never had an inquiry or indication of interest by potential adopters. Before being picked up by Animal control, he was found walking along side a major highway. Knows basic commands and enjoys companionship of dogs and people. Child friendly. Buster arrived in March 2014. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a 'No kill' shelter which provides quality care, spay/neuter-all vaccines-deworming-vet exam-standard disease testing and for dogs-monthly prevention heart worm treatment. Dogs are walked daily and/or have fenced area playtime. Cat and kittens have communal rooms in which they socialize, play and lounge. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are primarily owner relinquishments. The facility usually is operating at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open. Adoption hours are Tues-Sat 10-4 and Sun 1-4. Contact or visit CSHS, 4823 Helen Hwy. 75N, Sautee, GA 30571, 706-865-4135. The shelter is located 3 miles south of the alpine town of Helen in the NE mountains. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Great Dane in Georgia
Great Dane Dogs can make good pets in Georgia if they match your IifestyIe. The Great Dane is an enormous, but extremely gentle breed often referred to as the Gentle Giant. Great Danes are kind, loyal, and sociable. They need to be around people. Great Danes are gentle, devoted, and wonderful with children, but should be supervised with little ones because of their large size. Great Danes should be well trained as puppies. Great Danes can live in an apartment with enough daily exercise but do best with a large yard.
