Animal ID: 2014-90Betty Jean (female)

Great Dane    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

We saved Betty Jean (01/10/14) back at the beginning of the spring. We saved her and her siblings from the desert and were able to have mommy and daddy spayed. Betty Jean came back to us, not because she did anything wrong and definitely not because her family did anything wrong. She just plays a little too rough with the families miniature Schnauzer and the family is afraid, after several vet visits, the next time may be the last time. With that said, Betty Jean is looking for her new happily ever after. She can only be placed in a home with a larger dog she can play with. She has zero aggression, she is just a 100 lb, 10 month old playful ... (Read More)English Mastiff - Great Dane puppy. (Less)

Great Dane    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

We rescued this sweet girl about 3 months ago. We live in the mountains on property with no fences. She has shown extreme aggression towards OTHER dogs that have come onto our property. She is great with humans and our other male dane, BUT not good with neighbor dogs. She needs to go to a home where she is in a well fenced area and will receive a LOT of love. She will cuddle, kiss, hug us like no other. She needs somebody who knows how to deal with aggressive dogs and who will keep her in a confined area. Other than that, she is a total lover.

Great Dane    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Female Dogs Only, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Max was brought to the rescue by his owner because he was moving and also because he could not control Max. Max is a young boy full of energy and he can be a little pushy. Max will need a home with someone that can handle a extra large dog. Max is very playful with our females but we are still working on doing well with other males. Max loves people, going for car rides or nice long walks.

Rescue Me ID: 14-10-16-00514Rocky (male)

Great Dane    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Female Dogs Only, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Rocky was rescued from a shelter by a good Samaritan but unfortunately Rocky was a bit too much for her to handle and he was competing with a small male dog which was not a good thing. Rocky is playful, a bit hard headed and will need obedience training. We think Rocky will be a good companion dog for someone who is familiar with extra large stubborn dogs. Rocky does get along with our females and we think in time (he was neutered only 2 weeks ago) he will get comfortable with other males.

Rescue Me ID: 14-10-16-00512Merlin (male)

Great Dane    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Female Dogs Only, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Merlin is just the typical deaf Dane who loves everyone and everything. He came to us because he and his deaf brother were just too much to handle for his mom. His brother stayed so he can get the proper training and hopefully be able to stay with his mom. Merlin loves to sit on your lap, is just as sweet as can be and would make the prefect companion. Merlin can see but his eyesight is limited. He plays, runs and even chases a black dog in the dark. If you have ever met our deaf Danes, you know you want Merlin to be part of your family.

Great Dane    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Female Dogs Only, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Weston was brought to the rescue because his owners were expecting twins and were not sure they could handle him with the babies. Weston is a very affectionate Dane pup who is still trying to figure out who is in charge. He does very well with our female Danes but since he only got neutered recently, he is still too hormonal to be put with other males. Weston loves to play, is pretty good on a leash and listens well.

Great Dane Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Rocky is a two year old Great Dane Black Lab mix. He is good with other dogs and loves to play. But he can be shy around new people so is probably best suited for quieter homes. He has gone through and excelled in advanced training. He's housebroken and has perfect manners. Experienced and confident owners would be perfect for this highly intelligent boy, who likes to hike, go for bike rides, runs and work/be stimulated.

Carly is easy going, very playful and loves to cuddle.

He is a calm an loving 2-3 year old Blue and White male with mantle or boston type markings and approximately 130lbs. Because he was neutered late, we would prefer him to go to a home where he is the only dog.     UPDATE: WILL BE SPAYED BEFORE GOING TO FOSTER OR PERMANENT HOME. We are happy to report that these dogs are doing very well, better than expected. Because of the unpredictable behavior of these dogs at the time of rescue (early evening) and resulting behavioral issues of these dogs, we felt it safe for all to board them in an environment of other giant breed dogs. On site behaviorist was able to assess temperament. We are working to introduce them to toys, treats and playtime. Tinker Bell: This black female is purportedly the sister of Ari (per releasing party). Also 6 years old and 145lbs, Tinker Bell is less confidant than the ... (Read More)other two dogs and would run away if given the chance. No signs of aggression towards people, but completely unsocialized and afraid. Slow steps to introduce her to affection and the world at large are working. Again, coat is in good condition, a bit overweight from grainy foods. Tinker Bell is starting to get used to the new environment. We currently need monetary assistance for boarding and immediate veterinary care for Eddie. We will also need funds to spay and neuter the older two dogs. These dogs deserve a chance at life and loving homes. They have spent their entire lives in a situation not of their making. They have not known the touch and hug of a loving caring human. They have not had a chance to walk next to their human, visit the beach, go for a hike. The things we so often take for granted when spending time with our beloved companions. Please help us give these dogs the opportunity to see the better side of humanity and learn how kind humans can be. INITIAL PLEA: The following is a plea for assistance from the family of this lovely Great Dane 6 year old female. We are sharing the actual plea to demonstrate the actual situation of this family. We do not need anyone's negative responses, they just won't help. If you can help, have any positive suggestions or would care to make donations to the rescue, rehab and rehoming of these dogs, please contact us at Dharris6558@gmail.com. START POST here is the info I have regarding the PURE BREAD[sic] GREAT DANES that are in immediate need of homes please,if you can help in anyway~ MY aunt is in a terrible state of sadness and due to her breast cancer process and my uncle's need for dialysis- they are losing their ranch in Hesperia- there is No time to waste as they will need to be out next week- so the earlier we find these beauties homes the better- I am in San Francisco and helping from a distance, it has been a challenge and just completed placement on three horse, a pig and two goats- the Dogs are last in my list of needs and My aunt barely has money to even buy food, with all her medical costs for her and my uncle and both retired~ to give a little back ground- My aunt and Uncle are past time breeders of Great Danes- they required all adoptions - that the new owners sign an agreement that if at anytime they are unable to care for the dogs, they agree to return the dogs and they would take care of them until they could be placed- this proved to happen more often than she/and my uncle could have ever forseen~ here is the list and as much of a Bio on each that you asked from me~ Two 6 year olds One Black Male and One Blue Female- neither have been spayed or neutered{my Aunt is ashamed of this}but, said they have not had any offspring-she had them in seperate Pins in the barn-she said they are shy of people-in kennels and haven't been in a pack so not good with other dogs ONE 2 year old Black Male he is neutered and likes everyone- she said he needs a vet to find out why he is so skinny though??? END POST Thank you for your consideration. (Less)

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

UPDATE: LOOK, UP IN THE SKY, IT'S A BIRD, IT'S A PLANE, IT'S A GREYHOUND! Nope, it's our very one Bree Bree running and having fun in the play yard. Bree Bree is a lovely 5 year old fawn Great Dane. A bit on the shy side at first, Bree Bree has been passed over for her younger, more outgoing friends. But she would be a wonderful companion for an adult family or single person. Bree Bree was kept in a kennel for a number of years after her owner suffered a stroke. She was well fed and cared for but no one shared affection with her or played with her. She needs a chance to be a part of a home and family, where she can be the 'queen.' ... (Read More)Bree Bree loves to go for walks and rides in the car. She isn't great in huge social events, but is great with her on circle of friends and family. She would do best in an adult, quiet home. No thrill seeker here, just a loyal, quiet companion to share your life with. Please contact foster mom directly at DHarris6558@gmail.com. (Less)

We still need your help in donations. Any amount will help us continue treating this deserving boy. Contact us for paypal information. All donations are tax deductible! Gunnar is currently in foster with a talented registered nurse specializing in pediatric oncology. Thanks to the generous donations of so very many fans of this courageous boy. (Read More)hope to keep our Gunner on his current regimen including K9 Immunity, K9 Transfer Factors, B17, Ambrotose, Apopcaps. All of these items can be found on Gunnar's wish list at Amazon.com should anyone care to help. He is a wonderful dog and for whatever time he has left, we will continue to make his life complete with love, lots of playtime and joy. It's the least we can do considering it was a human who left him to suffer in the first place with an easy fix - neuter in this case - to eradicate testicular cancer. We love you Gunnar!!!!! UPDATE: This beautiful boy has been diagnosed with cancer. He has undergone emergency surgery to alleviate a painful condition and during that surgery it was determined that the cancer had begun to spread to various parts of his body. We are optimistic that whatever time this boy has left, will be pain free with a very good quality of life with the aid of moderate chemotherapy drugs and nontraditional medications and supplements, under the supervision of a board certified veterinary oncologist. We are hoping to find a very special home for this boy, willing to give him a great life for whatever time he has left. THIS IS AN EMERGENCY SITUATION. Stockton boy has been spared by this gracious shelter and will be taken to a local veterinarian Friday, December 14th. Please contact us at greatdanerescuenetwork@gmail.com ASAP if you would care to donate to his care or are interested in fostering. We are trying to save his life! He has medical needs that will need to be immediately addressed. (Less)

Great Dane    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

uPDATE: Our Sgt. Diesel is currently in long term foster. We are seeking donations for his continued care at this time. Please see Sgt. Diesel's wish list on Amazon.com. Meet the fabulous Sgt. Diesel. His one time companion shipped out to the Middle East several months ago. Sadly, the last few weeks together, Sgt. Diesel and his owner slept in a car. There was no base housing for the two, the soldier had just recently divorced. Because of Sgt. Diesel's advanced age, NO ONE even considered helping. Sgt. Diesel had lost weight and considerable issues with his eyes and a botched up eye job to correct congenital cosmetic eye defects. ... (Read More)We didn't care about any of that. We only saw a young man who was committed to serving his country. And a wonderful old dog who deserved a second chance at love. Well, this boy has rebounded beautifully. With TLC and very special care, this boy looks half his age. In is in excellent physical condition and loves to do a medium run in the mornings. We are extremely proud of the continuing efforts to keep Sgt. Diesel healthy and happy while searching for his new home. Foster mom just loves him! You will to. (Less)

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Hip Dysplasia

This wonderful sweet boy has late onset Wobbler's syndrome. We are looking for a foster home so that William can know the joy of having a loving family and special home. PIease Read Before Adopting a Great Dane in California
Great Dane Dogs can make good pets in California if they match your IifestyIe. The Great Dane is an enormous, but extremely gentle breed often referred to as the Gentle Giant. Great Danes are kind, loyal, and sociable. They need to be around people. Great Danes are gentle, devoted, and wonderful with children, but should be supervised with little ones because of their large size. Great Danes should be well trained as puppies. Great Danes can live in an apartment with enough daily exercise but do best with a large yard.
