Great Dane    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Malnourished

Brutus sadly is a victim of the oilfield layoffs. His family chose to surrender him rather than watch him slowly wither away as they could no longer afford to feed him. Brutus is a purebred 11 month old Great Dane. He is now neutered, crate trained, house trained and knows basic commands. This handsome black beauty will make a wonderful addition to any extra large breed savvy home. Brutus is currently underweight at 103lbs but should gain easily with a consistent slow and steady diet. He will be available once he reaches a safe weight to undergo hernia repair, however we are currently accepting applications to adopt. His adoption fee is ... Rescue Me ID: 16-01-28-00649Ginger (female)

Great Dane Mix    Age: Puppy

Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Needs Vaccinations

Ginger is a great dog, she is great on a leash, she doesn't pull, and she listens if you tell her to sit and wait for people or other dogs to go by. She is potty trained, and crate trained, she sits, lays down, and shakes all on command. She is currently about 75 lbs. and judging by her parents I'm guessing she'll get to about 120lbs. She would be best paired with active outdoor people with no small children to knock over, and no other dogs to compete with. She likes to dig if given the opportunity because she is still a puppy, so I wouldn't leave her unattended outside if you have a garden that you love! She is VERY playful, and needs an ... Great Dane Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Deaf

MEET JUNIPER (deaf) --- Available Soon! --- Southern California Inquiries Only --- Email: adoptions@waggingdog.org --- Meet Juniper, our newest special needs addition! Juniper looks like a small Dane blend to me and she moves and acts like one too. Total goofball dog, just a year old and still very much a puppy. She's currently about 71 lbs. but thin so we'll add to that a bit. She was adopted from the shelter and returned twice in the last couple months. The first time was to an irresponsible family (surprised? didn't think so) who didn't manage their new giant puppy and their kids very well. The second time was to renters who didn't ... (Read More)have landlord permission. No comment. We snatched her up before some other moron could adopt her and set her up to fail. Now she's in one of our awesome foster homes, firming up her manners and hand signals that the shelter volunteers taught her. She's SO awesome! We LOVE Juniper! Pretty Juniper is deaf as a doornail but that doesn't put any crimps on her enthusiasm for life :) She's super playful and really wants to play with pretty much every other dog on the planet. She can't hear another dog's corrections so we'll be working to teach her to be more in tune with her companions' body language with the aid of her foster fur brother and other well matched playmates. (There are some things a human can not teach a dog so we're thankful for help from our own dogs!) She looks to her human for guidance and has great leash manners already. She's great with people but we'll be looking for a forever family with older children if any. We do hope she'll have a well matched male companion dog in her home and a big backyard to run zoomies in. Her legs flail all over the place when she gallops around the yard ;) It's pretty cute. Stay tuned for updates as we learn more about this sweetie. She'll be ready for her forever home soon! --- For more photos and pupdates on Juniper, please visit her on Facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1119850674706099.1073741963.294289027262272&type=3 (Less)

Great Dane    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Deaf

Meet our precious Lucy, she is a 1 1/2 yr old euro pure white with crstal blue eyes angel, she is spayed, completely vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, gets along good with other dogs, and is amazing with children. She is house trained and crate trained but promised to never put her in one again as she had lived in one most of her short life... her owner was moving and could no longer keep her so he dropped her off with a family member who had every intention of breeding her but when they realized they could not 'handle' her as they stated to me with no shame that she is 'out of control and 'stupid' and had to keep her in a crate just so ... (Read More)they didnt have to deal with her.... and as if that wasnt reason enough for them they made sure I knew she was in heat and if we didnt take her in someone else would! My faith was where it always is and that day my faith gave me the strength I needed to NOT give that horrid woman what she had coming!!! All those horruble nasty awful things were very far from the truth as our Lucy was born Deaf... something a loving owner would have noticed but instead this sweet gente soul had to live the first year of her life mistreated verbally and physically but NEVER again! She is now up for adoption and is looking for a forever home not just any home one who understands where she has been and will stop at nothing to get her where she needs to be and I promise love will do just that!!! If you are looking to change a life and live life with faith I promise you will have just found your best friend!!!! (Less)

BLUE, 4+ YEAR OLD BLUE MALE Blue was brought to the rescue because he knocked his owner down out of excitement. Blue was predominantly an outdoor dog(because he was too big to be in the house)and was very excited when his owner came outside and spend a little time with him. Blue was also taught when he was younger and still little, to jump up and put his feet on his owner's shoulders. Ofcourse now when he gets excited and wants to do what he was taught, he gets the boot. Blue will be neutered Jan.8 and will be available after that. Blue has been around other dogs, big and small and is good with children. FOR MORE PICTURES GO TO: ... (Read More)WWW.INDIANDANERESCUE.COM (Less)

He is really tall and leggy. Jackson is fostered in COARSGOLD CALIFORNIA. He showed interest in the Kitties at first because all was new and he is still basically pretty much a puppy. He is fine now. He hasn't bothered her other pets, including chickens. He wants to be WITH his people. He will go searching for ... (Read More)his family if you leave him unattended but his goal is to be with YOU. He will try to dig out to get back with you. He loves the poodle friend he has made there and shares a bed with the poodle. This is ONE NICE DOG. He needs a family that will exercise him and make him very much a part of the family. He is good with little dogs as well. Black dogs are in abundance and he was scheduled to be euthanized and we took him out at the very last 11th hour basically. What a shame if this dog had been euthanized. VERY NICE BOY. He had been adopted from the shelter when a pup and his family didn't come get him when he got in the shelter again. Was he lonesome and got out? Likely. He was very sad but he has blossomed in foster care. A LOYAL dog. Heartworm NEGATIVE as well. We aren't sure how he is with small small children but he is good with older folks. We feel he will do fine as he wants to please and wants to learn, as long as children aren't allowed to be rough and rowdy and all over him. We can't say for sure. We will update as time goes by here and we learn more. In the mean time this great dog wants a forever commitment? Can you give him that? He is with our RESCUE and an adopt application will be required so everyone wins with a match. Will Jackson be your forever friend? Black is glossy, black is beautiful. We have him on a great food and his turn around has been terrific. He has the most beautiful liquid brown eyes and they are pleading to belong.     Jackson was listed at the public shelter as a Great Dane x Labrador Retriever mix. He looks like a 'leggy Lab', not super big at all. Jackson bonded with his family that he lived with every day. Sadly however, the military commitment for one family member didn't allow for a bond to form and Jackson was on guard with this member. The family elected to surrender Jackson and we are hoping to find a committed partnership this time around for him.     DAISY, 3+ YEAR OLD BLACK FEMALE Daisy was brought to the rescue because her owners did not want her anymore. See, they knew that she was not good with other dogs so when they decided to replace their fence, they just put up a little gate and when Daisy saw an other dog she jumped over and got to the other dog. Ofcourse it was all Daisy's fault so she got the boot. Daisy loves people, gives kisses, is perfect on a leash but does not do well with other dogs. Miss Nova with proper care and lots of luck has outgrown any symptoms and currently eats and drinks without issues. Sadly however, trauma to the growth plate of her front leg has weakened her right front leg a bit, but she gets around totally unaffected at this time.     http://youtu.be/fWEIa3cEjh8 http://youtu.be/7oBzSy4Fxfw We Are In Search Of A Loving & Suitable Foster Home in OC/Long Beach area. EVERYTHING is provided for Beaumont. APPLICATION & HOME CHECK IS REQUIRED. Beaumont isn't like any other stray we've come across in rescue, his story is an extraordinary one. Like most strays we come across, this little pup suffered the threats of his environment; emaciation, neglect, abuse, and starvation; only the severity of each of these threat was unlike any other. Beaumont, a puppy about 10 months old now, wasn't just discovered roaming around the heat and dry terrain of Tijuana--he was discovered in ... (Read More)practically a heap of skin and bones using the strength he had left to drag himself around with only his two function forelegs. Such a heart wrenching thought to imagine, a man by the name of Walter had not only witnessed this for himself in person, but he had shared the plea to us in hopes of getting help for this pup. Beaumont was not only visibly emaciated, but he had also been infested with ticks and suffered the pain of licking his flesh raw and rotting. We decided to name him Beaumont, which is french for 'Beautiful Mountain' because he is beautiful and he has already shown us he is as invincible as any mountain. Beaumont has gone under bilateral hind legs amputation due to his deformity there was not another option. Since amputation he feels to move independently & freely, a true miracle to witness. Beaumont is also becoming close to be fully potty trained, he has control over his bladder and bowel so diaper is not necessary. We purchased a custom made wheelchair for outdoor walks. Currently we are focusing on helping him with wheel training consistently aside from his training with our trainer Drew Hayes. Beaumont desperately needs a long term foster home until adoption--and yes we do find unique adopters for even our special need dogs which are the majority of our rescued dogs. We strive to get him to a loving foster family who can appreciate a dog with special needs and who view his journey as inspirational. Our rescue will provide all Beaumont's needs and supply while in foster home. We love Beaumont and will do all we can to help him thrive each and every day. Before and After photos available upon request. (Less)

After a car accident where Mr. Spock was injured, the owner released him to our program. We have made sure he is healthy, had him neutered and are starting to work with him on manners. He is a calm an loving 2-3 year old Blue and White male with mantle or boston type markings and approximately 130lbs. Because he was neutered late, we would prefer him to go to a home where he is the only dog. Great Dane    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered

UPDATE: While we appreciate Corona's family in their efforts to be honest about his behavior, we have had the pleasure of living with Corona for the past few weeks and have personally temperament tested him (3s) and observed his behavior. Corona is a mild as guardian breeds go. His motto is 'protect or be protected,' a learned behavior certainly. When in the presence of a pack leader however, Corona shows NO signs of protective behavior. Not towards children, other dogs, nothing. We are looking for an adult home with guardian breed experience. However please note that in comparison to a true molosser guardian, Corona is a lamb. ... (Read More)Again, as we have observed, giant breed dogs and guardian breed dogs in particular are better pets when their owners are dominant in their pack and without a need for their dog to protect during the normal course of any given day. This is a lovely dog, sweet in temperament, that will bark an alarm at strangers attempting to gain entrance to his property. Upon simple introduction, access is given and the stranger is no longer a stranger anymore. There have been no bite incidents nor have we had occasion to witness any growling or aggression directed at another dog or human. And he gets along with cats. Go figure! Thank you for considering this dog. FROM HIS FORMER FAMILY: ...He walks great on a leash and loves to take walks. There are two issues we are facing now though, in our new neighborhood. Corona gets along with only a few select dogs. He has gotten aggressive towards others dogs but it mainly depends on the attitude of the approaching dog. He is very protective of my husband and I (ON THE WALK AND WITH OTHER DOGS) which is awesome however ... makes it challenging to walk him in our new neighborhood which is very well populated with families and their dogs. We have also experienced him wanting to chase after children that are outside playing and running. He has never bitten anyone or hurt someone however he has scared the children on these certain occasions. This has made walking him increasingly more challenging in our new neighborhood. With these issues and the fact that we have no yard now we were forced to reevaluate Corona's needs and what would be best for him. It breaks our hearts to make this decision but he deserves a home with land that he can run on and a yard that he can enjoy. We want to make sure he goes to a loving home with experienced owners that will give Corona exactly what he needs. There is no doubt in our minds that he will become the love of his new owners life. He loves to cuddle and loves attention. He is very calm but also loves to play. He is house trained and is very good about letting you know when he needs to potty. He sleeps with us at night and loves to be right by your side for leisure time and movie time. He knows basic commands like sit, stay, paw, lay and kennel. Corona is currently in foster in Granada Hills. (Less)

UPDATE: LOOK, UP IN THE SKY, IT'S A BIRD, IT'S A PLANE, IT'S A GREYHOUND! Nope, it's our very one Bree Bree running and having fun in the play yard. Bree Bree is a lovely 7 year old fawn Great Dane. A bit on the shy side at first, Bree Bree has been passed over for her younger, more outgoing friends. But she would be a wonderful companion for an adult family or single person. Bree Bree was kept in a kennel for a number of years after her owner suffered a stroke. She was well fed and cared for but no one shared affection with her or played with her. She needs a chance to be a part of a home and family, where she can be the 'queen.' ... (Read More)Bree Bree loves to go for walks and rides in the car. She isn't great in huge social events, but is great with her on circle of friends and family. PIease Read Before Adopting a Great Dane in California
Great Dane Dogs can make good pets in California if they match your IifestyIe. The Great Dane is an enormous, but extremely gentle breed often referred to as the Gentle Giant. Great Danes are kind, loyal, and sociable. They need to be around people. Great Danes are gentle, devoted, and wonderful with children, but should be supervised with little ones because of their large size. Great Danes should be well trained as puppies. Great Danes can live in an apartment with enough daily exercise but do best with a large yard.
