Great Dane Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Aggressive, Fearful/Anxious

Otis is a 80lb beautiful Black Lab MIx. He has had some anxiety/ fear issues around other dogs and we recently had a unprovoked bite incident to a person. We do not have to give him up at the moment but feel he needs a different environment to thrive in. Fully vaccinated, neutered, multiple trainings with specialists. He is a lover at home and couch potato. HE attended Family dog 1 at the humane society. We have worked with two trainers where he did 3 week board and train and we have followed consistent training since we have had him. We would like to find him a home in a rural area or with a person who has few house guests, no kids ... (Read More)and a secure property. We have been managing him for the past year and a half and have seen some progress but we are unable to confidently say we can keep our neighbors and their small children safe given we have some shared space. Our main concern was Otis being aggressive with other dogs (he is ok with our chihuahua and our trainer was able to get him to befriends with her non reactive dog. He is a love at home with us but protective of guests. We think he needs more space and time to be a dog that is not a suburb kind of dog. (Less)

Sasquatch is a 2.5 yr old harlequin great Dane. He is about 150 lbs, and stands 6 ft tall on his hind legs. He was turned over because he is not good with other male dogs or livestock. He is very friendly with people, and would do well in a home that can handle a playful, puppy-like giant. He loves to gallop around the yard like a gazelle, great with female dogs, and both male and female smaller dogs. His adopting fee covers neuter, all vaccines, rabies cert, deworming, microchip, vet exam, and he goes home with food, treats, toys, new collar and more

Great Dane    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Female Dogs Only, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

This handsome 18 month old male is a diamond in the rough. He is a typical big puppy and will need training. A great family for G-Man is an active one. A family who has time to run or playball or hike or all of the above would be best. So if you are in the market for a 130-140lb puppy who is sweet but sometimes clueless on how to get outside in time to potty, walking nicely on a leash. But he does know his name. Please give us a call if you would like to meet him. He is fostered in the Inland Empire.

This darling 5 year old Great Dane was rescued just a few days ago from a Socal shelter. She is extremely thin and not ready to go just yet.     Teagan came to the rescue because she did not get along with their other dog. Teagan gets along with male dogs that are very submissive and want to play. Teagan has been with some female dogs here at the rescue and she did very well and played with them. However these were very young Danes under 1 year.     Cognac is 8 months old and extremely smart and loving with adults. He is a lap dog when inside. He prefers outside and is not potty trained. He loves to play with toys and take long walks He is dog aggressive and has injured two of our older male/female beagles. He has not ben aggressive with our two other smaller rescues but we have been told by a behaviorist it is just a matter of time. Also recommended not to have small children around him although we have not seen aggressive towards our small grandchildren. He needs someone who can manage him for periods of time to see if his aggression can be reversed.

Meet Fonzy Bear! This friendly guy is a darling mutt who is most likely a Great Dane/Border Collie cross but...your guess is as good as ours! We are ideally looking to place this giant goofball in a rural area so he has tons of space to run and play. He tends to get overexcited when meeting new dogs-that paired with his size makes him not quite built for dog-park life. That being said, he loves other dogs and with a proper introduction, he does totally fine with most dogs! He loves to romp, play and go on hikes with his doggy pack but ultimately we envision this guy on a large plot of land with a doggy best friend to explore and play ... (Read More)with. He loves people and is all wiggle and cuddles but definitely bonds closely with his humans. When new people enter the home, he does alert but is quick to warm up. He is a smart dog who is food motivated and loves to learn! His current foster mom reports that he is as an easy-going dog in the house and has good manners. He is great at play fetch, has basic commands, is fully house trained and has no issues being left for hours at a time. He is good with children but due to his size/strength, we are looking to place him in a family with kids 12 and older. If you're looking to add a country bumpkin to your home who has a million dollar smile, is addicted to belly rubs and has goof-ball personality, Bear is your boy! He is an awesome copilot and fun to have around. His foster mom said she would keep him in a second if she could! Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Fill out an application of interest first from our website at www.animalsrule.org - NO OUT OF STATE. Here is another link to his training video: https://youtu.be/3xDsmPaQib8 Zeus the Great Dane is a stunning boy. He was originally bought from a breeder in Texas and came along with his owner to California when she moved. Living in an apt with 2 Great Danes was hard on Zeus, so the painful decision was made to surrender him to rescue so he could find a house with a yard to live and play in. Zeus was born on Nov 23, 2014 and currently weighs 130 lbs. He is very good in the house, a perfect gentleman. He is respectful of your furniture ... (Read More)and personal items and does not chew or destroy anything. He loves to run around and play and loves people. He is big and strong and gorgeous. We had him assessed by a trainer and he is fearful of other dogs. As long as they dont come up on him he is fine, however the dog park or dog beach will not fit into his lifestyle. He has never lived with small children so we would prefer teenagers and older in the home or an all adult home. Zeus is very good on leash and does well in his training class. He LOVES to ride in the car, he is very well behaved. He needs a Dane experienced owner. He can be alot of dog to handle in public but at your home he is a perfect gentleman with A+ manners. Zeus is on Apoquel for allergies, approx $120/month. As we learn more about Zeus, we will update his bio accordingly. (updated 9/14/2017) Zeus is in foster care and can be seen at the Animals Rule Saturday adoption event from 11am - 3pm at Creative Pet Supply -305 North Harbor Blvd. San Pedro, CA 90731.     http://youtu.be/fWEIa3cEjh8 http://youtu.be/7oBzSy4Fxfw We Are In Search Of A Loving & Suitable Foster Home in OC/Long Beach area. EVERYTHING is provided for Beaumont. APPLICATION & HOME CHECK IS REQUIRED. Beaumont isn't like any other stray we've come across in rescue, his story is an extraordinary one. Like most strays we come across, this little pup suffered the threats of his environment; emaciation, neglect, abuse, and starvation; only the severity of each of these threat was unlike any other. Beaumont, a puppy about 10 months old now, wasn't just discovered roaming around the heat and dry terrain of Tijuana--he was discovered in ... (Read More)practically a heap of skin and bones using the strength he had left to drag himself around with only his two function forelegs. Such a heart wrenching thought to imagine, a man by the name of Walter had not only witnessed this for himself in person, but he had shared the plea to us in hopes of getting help for this pup. Beaumont was not only visibly emaciated, but he had also been infested with ticks and suffered the pain of licking his flesh raw and rotting. We decided to name him Beaumont, which is french for 'Beautiful Mountain' because he is beautiful and he has already shown us he is as invincible as any mountain. Beaumont has gone under bilateral hind legs amputation due to his deformity there was not another option. Since amputation he feels to move independently & freely, a true miracle to witness. Beaumont is also becoming close to be fully potty trained, he has control over his bladder and bowel so diaper is not necessary. We purchased a custom made wheelchair for outdoor walks. Currently we are focusing on helping him with wheel training consistently aside from his training with our trainer Drew Hayes. Beaumont desperately needs a long term foster home until adoption--and yes we do find unique adopters for even our special need dogs which are the majority of our rescued dogs. We strive to get him to a loving foster family who can appreciate a dog with special needs and who view his journey as inspirational. Our rescue will provide all Beaumont's needs and supply while in foster home. We love Beaumont and will do all we can to help him thrive each and every day. Before and After photos available upon request. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Great Dane in California
Great Dane Dogs can make good pets in California if they match your IifestyIe. The Great Dane is an enormous, but extremely gentle breed often referred to as the Gentle Giant. Great Danes are kind, loyal, and sociable. They need to be around people. Great Danes are gentle, devoted, and wonderful with children, but should be supervised with little ones because of their large size. Great Danes should be well trained as puppies. Great Danes can live in an apartment with enough daily exercise but do best with a large yard.
