Rescue Me ID: 17-06-21-00088Diesel (male)

Great Dane    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Female Dogs Only, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Abused/Neglected,
 Fearful/Anxious

Stunning, 15 month old, 135lb Great Dane, Diesel. Diesel is a giant, sweet, goofy, drooly, tender hearted Dane, who needs someone who will be dedicated to training him and socialization. He is not for the mildly experienced dog owner, and truly needs a loving patient Giant breed savvy home! Was chained in a back yard a lot w previous owner. He is loving and playful, moderate to higher puppy energy, good with large female dogs. He is not ideal to place with male dogs at this time. No little kids. Lap dog! Good in the car. He is tender hearted, thrives with guidance so patience and positive reinforcement training is a MUST here. He ... (Read More)requires a dedicated and strong but not intense handler... as he doesn't respond well to intensity at all, he is a sensitive guy. He is a best friend, bonds fiercely to his person or persons. Adoption requirements -- PLEASE READ! Adopters must: -Be a mature home owner who has experience with giant breed dogs, and can ABSOLUTELY make the 100% commitment to being his family for the rest of his life, no matter what curve balls life throws at you. -Be able to afford to care for a Giant Breed dog. Giant breed dogs are a bit of a speciality and are not for everyone. -Enjoy giant lap dogs, not mind drool, and Dane Zoomies aka Dane Quakes **Basic training with a professional trainer who understands canine behavior will be a mandatory requirement to adopt him, as he will need a home who can slowly exposed him to new things. -Has some food guarding tendencies so needs to be fed separate from other dogs and kept away from you while eating at first while learning his manners. If you have had Danes you know they require high quality food, quality vet care, and total life time stability from their family. *Danes must be in an air conditioned home if they live in areas with extreme heat due to their sensitivity to heat. Go to www.K9ppr.org now to submit your adoption application, and tell us if you would be the right home for this amazing boy. We are located in the Bay Area of California. We do not adopt out-of-state . (Less)

He's medium energy - likes going for walks as much as he likes lounging around the house. He was adopted from us when he was 10 months old but sadly his family is going through some personal issues and his human is active military and is not able to provide Roy with the life he deserves. Please email us to find out more about Roy. Thank you for choosing to adopt and saving a life.

Rescue Me ID: 17-06-04-00010BB (female)

Great Dane    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Incontinent

[Read About Natural Incontinence Care] BB is by far the best-natured dog we have ever owned!! She is extremely docile, well-mannered, well-trained, dependable and overall super loveable to all people (big and small) as well as all animals. She wouldn't hurt a fly. We are exceptionally sad about pursuing the option to put her up for adoption, but also know that we do not have the right home for her, given her incontinence issue. BB is the PERFECT dog, except for this one health issue. BB has been struggling with incontinence for about 6 months now. Though she is still a fairly young dog (4.5 years old), her bladder is weak (we believe due to a ... (Read More)bad early breeding experience and then a late in life neuter, at 2.5 years old). Though she is extremely well-trained and will go 'potty' on command outside, sometimes she does not know that her bladder is 'relaxing' and urinates on her bed while lying down. Unfortunately, she has very little control of her bladder when in a relaxed (lying down) state. She needs to be in a home that has a lot of land (e.g. a farm or vineyard) where she can spend a majority of her time outside, and therefore not worry about whether her bladder is a little 'leaky'. Unfortunately, we live in a pretty urban/suburban area where that kind of outdoor space is not possible. We would love it if BB could find a new, loving home on a farm or vineyard. If she could have sufficient outdoor space to play, sleep and live in, it would be ideal for her condition. She would be a very good farm dog, scaring away pesky wild animals, and protecting any/all family members and pets. Additionally, we would provide all of her belongings with her as part of the transition. She has an XXL Midwest crate, 4 XXL dog beds, lots of dog bowls, toys, treats, shampoo/conditioner, collars/leashes, heartguard/flee collar, and two coats for cold winter evenings. A new owner would not need to provide anything for her except a good home. We would also provide all of her medical records, including proof that she is current on all of her vaccines for the next 12 months (and another 2 years for rabies). (Less)

Great Dane    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Female Dogs Only, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

This handsome senior was made an orphan as his owner passed away. Family unable to keep and good Samaritans saved his life. He has good house manners but can be a bit headstrong. He needs firm but loving hands. He is in excellent health, neutered and current on vaccinations and microchipped. He lived with another dog, but does not like strange dogs approaching. He is great with people, housebroken, I would recommend supervised introductions to any resident dog. Currently living with children and loving it. Thunder is 8 years young.

Meet our handsome 4 month old boy Lucky! He was rescued by a wonderful woman along with his brother Chance, (whom has been adopted into a wonderful family), when she noticed a momma dog lingering around a vacant home.. She went to make sure she was okay and heard the cries of her two precious boys from inside! She was able to get all three to us safely..we reached out to the community in hopes that someone knew the family or person responsible for abandoning this family and as luck would have it we got our answer and it was NOT the answer any of us expected! A young lady called us claiming that she was the owner and that she went through An ... (Read More)ugly separation.. And to hurt her, her ex took her dog and remaining two pups and wouldn't tell her where he had left them.. Power of prayer works people!! These two boys are absolutely precious and are ready to be loved!! Their adoption fee goes back into their vetting, overall care, and as always right back into their mamma!! (Less)

Great Dane Mix    Age: Young Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Vaccinations Current

Meet Fonzy Bear! This friendly guy is a darling mutt who is most likely a Great Dane/Border Collie cross but...your guess is as good as ours! We are ideally looking to place this giant goofball in a rural area so he has tons of space to run and play. He tends to get overexcited when meeting new dogs-that paired with his size makes him not quite built for dog-park life. That being said, he loves other dogs and with a proper introduction, he does totally fine with most dogs! He loves to romp, play and go on hikes with his doggy pack but ultimately we envision this guy on a large plot of land with a doggy best friend to explore and play ... (Read More)with. He loves people and is all wiggle and cuddles but definitely bonds closely with his humans. When new people enter the home, he does alert but is quick to warm up. He is a smart dog who is food motivated and loves to learn! His current foster mom reports that he is as an easy-going dog in the house and has good manners. He is great at play fetch, has basic commands, is fully house trained and has no issues being left for hours at a time. He is good with children but due to his size/strength, we are looking to place him in a family with kids 12 and older. If you're looking to add a country bumpkin to your home who has a million dollar smile, is addicted to belly rubs and has goof-ball personality, Bear is your boy! He is an awesome copilot and fun to have around. His foster mom said she would keep him in a second if she could!     Rhodie is a 2-3 year old Rhodesian Ridgeback Great Dane mix. Rhodie is my boy and i love him so much its hard to let him go but i have to for his sake. I have had Rhodie over a year now and he has recently learned how to climb my 5 foot wall. The only way i can keep him in the yard is to keep him on a leash and that is no kind of life for my boy. Rhodie is very sweet and loveable. Good with female dogs but probably not with cats. He is house broken and very good at letting you know when its time to go potty.     UPDATE: This smarty pants can climb a 6 foot chain link fence, but not a cement or block wall fence when he is bored. We crate him at night, and he is fine in the play yard during the day. This four year old blue Great Dane boy was surrendered by his owner as life circumstances have changed for the family. He is a well behaved boy, rescued originally from a local public shelter. He has good manners, sort of low key and about 120lbs. He is a bit on the smaller side but more than makes up for it with the size of his heart and loyalty. A wonderful companion animal.

Here is another link to his training video: https://youtu.be/3xDsmPaQib8 Zeus the Great Dane is a stunning boy. He was originally bought from a breeder in Texas and came along with his owner to California when she moved. Living in an apt with 2 Great Danes was hard on Zeus, so the painful decision was made to surrender him to rescue so he could find a house with a yard to live and play in. Zeus was born on Nov 23, 2014 and currently weighs 130 lbs. He is very good in the house, a perfect gentleman. He is respectful of your furniture ... (Read More)and personal items and does not chew or destroy anything. He loves to run around and play and loves people. He is big and strong and gorgeous. We had him assessed by a trainer and he is fearful of other dogs. As long as they dont come up on him he is fine, however the dog park or dog beach will not fit into his lifestyle. He has never lived with small children so we would prefer teenagers and older in the home or an all adult home. Zeus is very good on leash and does well in his training class. He LOVES to ride in the car, he is very well behaved. He needs a Dane experienced owner. He can be alot of dog to handle in public but at your home he is a perfect gentleman with A+ manners. Zeus is on Apoquel for allergies, approx $120/month. As we learn more about Zeus, we will update his bio accordingly. (updated 3/4/2017) Zeus is sponsored by: 1. Doug Quinn honoring his Dane Jackson from Animals Rule Rescue, 2. Theron Bobzin honoring the memory of Maura Kelly Gamulin, 3. Like most strays we come across, this little pup suffered the threats of his environment; emaciation, neglect, abuse, and starvation; only the severity of each of these threat was unlike any other. Beaumont, a puppy about 10 months old now, wasn't just discovered roaming around the heat and dry terrain of Tijuana--he was discovered in ... (Read More)practically a heap of skin and bones using the strength he had left to drag himself around with only his two function forelegs. Such a heart wrenching thought to imagine, a man by the name of Walter had not only witnessed this for himself in person, but he had shared the plea to us in hopes of getting help for this pup. Beaumont was not only visibly emaciated, but he had also been infested with ticks and suffered the pain of licking his flesh raw and rotting. We decided to name him Beaumont, which is french for 'Beautiful Mountain' because he is beautiful and he has already shown us he is as invincible as any mountain. Beaumont has gone under bilateral hind legs amputation due to his deformity there was not another option. Since amputation he feels to move independently & freely, a true miracle to witness. Beaumont is also becoming close to be fully potty trained, he has control over his bladder and bowel so diaper is not necessary. We purchased a custom made wheelchair for outdoor walks. Currently we are focusing on helping him with wheel training consistently aside from his training with our trainer Drew Hayes. Beaumont desperately needs a long term foster home until adoption--and yes we do find unique adopters for even our special need dogs which are the majority of our rescued dogs. We strive to get him to a loving foster family who can appreciate a dog with special needs and who view his journey as inspirational. Our rescue will provide all Beaumont's needs and supply while in foster home. We love Beaumont and will do all we can to help him thrive each and every day. Before and After photos available upon request. (Less)

He is able to get around okay, but cannot navigate too many stairs. This is truly a special needs boy but he is worth the extra time and effort to care for him.

PIease Read Before Adopting a Great Dane in California
Great Dane Dogs can make good pets in California if they match your IifestyIe. The Great Dane is an enormous, but extremely gentle breed often referred to as the Gentle Giant. Great Danes are kind, loyal, and sociable. They need to be around people. Great Danes are gentle, devoted, and wonderful with children, but should be supervised with little ones because of their large size. Great Danes should be well trained as puppies. Great Danes can live in an apartment with enough daily exercise but do best with a large yard.
