Rescue Me ID: 16-04-27-00657Stan & Ollie (male)

Great Dane    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

STAN AND OLLIE, 8 MONTH OLD MALES Stan is the blue boy and Ollie is the black one. Stan and Ollie were brought to us because their owner just could not take care of them anymore. Both of them are pretty much untrained but are learning real fast. Stan is the outgoing one and Ollie is more shy and reserved. Not unexpected because one has to be the leader over the other. Both will be neutered 4/28 and be available after that. For more pictures please go to www.indiandanerescue.com

Great Dane Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Dozer! He is an energetic 1-year-old neutered male pitbull/boxer/dane mix. He loves spending time running around the yard, chasing his tail, playing catch, and rolling on the floor. Dozer is very intelligent and loves learning new tricks. He has already mastered sit, lay, fetch, 'pound it' (fancy shake), go into your kennel, and stay. Despite his size, Dozer believes he is a lap dog and loves to curl up on his family. Dozer prefers not to share his home with other dogs or cats so all of his attention can be focused on his people. Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Daniel is a 1.5 to 2 year old purebred great dane. He is goofy and loves to play. He gets so excited when he sees his people that he gives a big, loud bark and woo! I believe Daniel had no training prior to coming to us, so he's just a big, floppy kid. He was a stray and was very malnourished but is steadily gaining weight. He loves all people very much. Daniel has been vaccinated, had a fecal exam, microchipped, rabies vaccine, and is eating grain free high protein kibble and canned food to help him bulk up.     Mercedes and her brother were found running loose in a neighborhood it to their rescuers 3 days to earn their trust to catch them. They were brought to the local shelter while we happened to be there. We could not leave them there so we took them in and have kept them safe to see if anyone came forward looking for them.     Buddy is an active 7 1/2 year old great dane. He loves people and wants to be where the people are. He mainly stays indoors but does like time outside. He does like most dogs but I would not put him with an aggressive male. He is fine with well-behaved kids who respect dogs. He does not want to be ridden. He is a bit spoiled in that he likes attention and being petted. He is not the kind of dog to be left alone all day by himself. He does like riding in a vehicle. Everyone that has met him loves him.     Winnie Ivan's to us almost three months ago. We found her on the streets and have been in constant search of a home but never was comfortable with the candidates on Craigslist. Although in three months she has grown a tremendous amount! More than we can handle. My guess is she is Great Dane mixed with a boxer or something of that nature. She is extremely sweet and gets along with my two other dogs. Chihuahua and lab mix. She is dominant and loves to be the center of attention. I think she would do best living as the only dog or having another high energy animal around to play with. I would prefer a Great Dane reduce group to ensure a good ... (Read More)home. She is house trained and crate trained but promised to never put her in one again as she had lived in one most of her short life... her owner was moving and could no longer keep her so he dropped her off with a family member who had every intention of breeding her but when they realized they could not 'handle' her as they stated to me with no shame that she is 'out of control and 'stupid' and had to keep her in a crate just so they didnt have to deal with her.... and as if that wasnt reason enough for them they made sure I knew she was in heat and if we didnt take her in someone else would! My faith was where it always is and that day my faith gave me the strength I needed to NOT give that horrid woman what she had coming!!!     http://youtu.be/fWEIa3cEjh8 http://youtu.be/7oBzSy4Fxfw We Are In Search Of A Loving & Suitable Foster Home in OC/Long Beach area. EVERYTHING is provided for Beaumont. APPLICATION & HOME CHECK IS REQUIRED. Beaumont isn't like any other stray we've come across in rescue, his story is an extraordinary one. Like most strays we come across, this little pup suffered the threats of his environment; emaciation, neglect, abuse, and starvation; only the severity of each of these threat was unlike any other. Beaumont, a puppy about 10 months old now, wasn't just discovered roaming around the heat and dry terrain of Tijuana--he was discovered in ... (Read More)practically a heap of skin and bones using the strength he had left to drag himself around with only his two function forelegs. Such a heart wrenching thought to imagine, a man by the name of Walter had not only witnessed this for himself in person, but he had shared the plea to us in hopes of getting help for this pup. Beaumont was not only visibly emaciated, but he had also been infested with ticks and suffered the pain of licking his flesh raw and rotting. We decided to name him Beaumont, which is french for 'Beautiful Mountain' because he is beautiful and he has already shown us he is as invincible as any mountain. Beaumont has gone under bilateral hind legs amputation due to his deformity there was not another option. Since amputation he feels to move independently & freely, a true miracle to witness. Beaumont is also becoming close to be fully potty trained, he has control over his bladder and bowel so diaper is not necessary. We purchased a custom made wheelchair for outdoor walks. Currently we are focusing on helping him with wheel training consistently aside from his training with our trainer Drew Hayes. Beaumont desperately needs a long term foster home until adoption--and yes we do find unique adopters for even our special need dogs which are the majority of our rescued dogs. We strive to get him to a loving foster family who can appreciate a dog with special needs and who view his journey as inspirational. Our rescue will provide all Beaumont's needs and supply while in foster home. We love Beaumont and will do all we can to help him thrive each and every day. Great Dane    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet our special pup Marcie. She is tripod with her rear leg missing from amputation. Marcie suffered an infection to the leg which somehow ended up in the removal of her leg. We don't know what really happened as the dog was released to us after the amputation. But we are getting to know Ms. Marcie. She is a happy girl, and gets along extremely well on her three legs. We are paying special attention to keeping her three legs healthy and sound, and building up her confidence with some obedience and rally work. She has undergone so much stress on her body including a recent spay with our program veterinarian. Please contact us for ... (Read More)further information on Ms. Marcie. (Less)

Great Dane Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Female Dogs Only, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

UPDATE: Mr. Spock was released to us by his owner. Sadly, he was a 'Houdini' and continued to escape from his yard. After a car accident where Mr. Spock was injured, the owner released him to our program. We have made sure he is healthy, had him neutered and are starting to work with him on manners. He is a calm an loving 2-3 year old Blue and White male with mantle or boston type markings and approximately 130lbs. Because he was neutered late, we would prefer him to go to a home where he is the only dog. We have extremely experienced giant and guardian breed volunteers who are happy to answer your questions about this dog.

Animal ID: OR3321Corona (male)

Great Dane    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered

UPDATE: While we appreciate Corona's family in their efforts to be honest about his behavior, we have had the pleasure of living with Corona for the past few weeks and have personally temperament tested him (3s) and observed his behavior. Corona is a mild as guardian breeds go. His motto is 'protect or be protected,' a learned behavior certainly. When in the presence of a pack leader however, Corona shows NO signs of protective behavior. Not towards children, other dogs, nothing. We are looking for an adult home with guardian breed experience. However please note that in comparison to a true molosser guardian, Corona is a lamb. ... (Read More)Again, as we have observed, giant breed dogs and guardian breed dogs in particular are better pets when their owners are dominant in their pack and without a need for their dog to protect during the normal course of any given day. This is a lovely dog, sweet in temperament, that will bark an alarm at strangers attempting to gain entrance to his property. Upon simple introduction, access is given and the stranger is no longer a stranger anymore. There have been no bite incidents nor have we had occasion to witness any growling or aggression directed at another dog or human. And he gets along with cats. Go figure! Thank you for considering this dog. FROM HIS FORMER FAMILY: ...He walks great on a leash and loves to take walks. There are two issues we are facing now though, in our new neighborhood. Corona gets along with only a few select dogs. He has gotten aggressive towards others dogs but it mainly depends on the attitude of the approaching dog. He is very protective of my husband and I (ON THE WALK AND WITH OTHER DOGS) which is awesome however ... makes it challenging to walk him in our new neighborhood which is very well populated with families and their dogs. We have also experienced him wanting to chase after children that are outside playing and running. He has never bitten anyone or hurt someone however he has scared the children on these certain occasions. This has made walking him increasingly more challenging in our new neighborhood. With these issues and the fact that we have no yard now we were forced to reevaluate Corona's needs and what would be best for him. It breaks our hearts to make this decision but he deserves a home with land that he can run on and a yard that he can enjoy. We want to make sure he goes to a loving home with experienced owners that will give Corona exactly what he needs. There is no doubt in our minds that he will become the love of his new owners life. He loves to cuddle and loves attention. He is very calm but also loves to play. He is house trained and is very good about letting you know when he needs to potty. He sleeps with us at night and loves to be right by your side for leisure time and movie time. He knows basic commands like sit, stay, paw, lay and kennel. Corona is currently in foster in Granada Hills. (Less)

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

UPDATE: LOOK, UP IN THE SKY, IT'S A BIRD, IT'S A PLANE, IT'S A GREYHOUND! Nope, it's our very one Bree Bree running and having fun in the play yard. Bree Bree is a lovely 7 year old fawn Great Dane. A bit on the shy side at first, Bree Bree has been passed over for her younger, more outgoing friends. But she would be a wonderful companion for an adult family or single person. Bree Bree was kept in a kennel for a number of years after her owner suffered a stroke. She was well fed and cared for but no one shared affection with her or played with her. She needs a chance to be a part of a home and family, where she can be the 'queen.' ... (Read More)Bree Bree loves to go for walks and rides in the car. She isn't great in huge social events, but is great with her on circle of friends and family. She would do best in an adult, quiet home. No thrill seeker here, just a loyal, quiet companion to share your life with. Please contact foster mom directly at DHarris6558@gmail.com. (Less)

He is a wonderful dog and for whatever time he has left, we will continue to make his life complete with love, lots of playtime and joy. UPDATE: This beautiful boy has been diagnosed with cancer. He has undergone emergency surgery to alleviate a painful condition and during that surgery it was determined that the cancer had begun to spread to various parts of his body. We are optimistic that whatever time this boy has left, will be pain free with a very good quality of life with the aid of moderate chemotherapy drugs and nontraditional medications and supplements, under the supervision of a board certified veterinary oncologist. We are hoping to find a very special home for this boy, willing to give him a great life for whatever time he has left. THIS IS AN EMERGENCY SITUATION. Stockton boy has been spared by this gracious shelter and will be taken to a local veterinarian Friday, December 14th. Please contact us at greatdanerescuenetwork@gmail.com ASAP if you would care to donate to his care or are interested in fostering. We are trying to save his life! Diesel. His one time companion shipped out to the Middle East several months ago. Sadly, the last few weeks together, Sgt. Diesel and his owner slept in a car. There was no base housing for the two, the soldier had just recently divorced. Because of Sgt. Diesel's advanced age, NO ONE even considered helping. Sgt. Diesel had lost weight and considerable issues with his eyes and a botched up eye job to correct congenital cosmetic eye defects. ... (Read More)We didn't care about any of that. We only saw a young man who was committed to serving his country. And a wonderful old dog who deserved a second chance at love. Well, this boy has rebounded beautifully. PIease Read Before Adopting a Great Dane in California
Great Dane Dogs can make good pets in California if they match your IifestyIe. The Great Dane is an enormous, but extremely gentle breed often referred to as the Gentle Giant. Great Danes are kind, loyal, and sociable. They need to be around people. Great Danes are gentle, devoted, and wonderful with children, but should be supervised with little ones because of their large size. Great Danes should be well trained as puppies. Great Danes can live in an apartment with enough daily exercise but do best with a large yard.
