Rescue Me ID: 14-12-30-00251Bacon and Lou (male)
I need to find a loving home for my 2 great danes. Bacon is a harlequin (on the left in the picture) and he has more personality than most people. He is 7 years old and he loves to play, run and sit in your lap. Lou is the blue dane (on the right in the picture) and he is around 7 or 8 years old. He is the sweetest dog that has ever walked the earth. He loves to lay his head in your lap and have his ears rubbed. I have had Bacon since he was a puppy and Lou for about 5 years. They have always been inside dogs and I have to keep them outside now because my lease does not allow inside pets. They do not like to be separated from me so they have started digging the yard up and they keep escaping and running off. I am scared that they will get hurt by another animal or a human. They both need vet check-ups but are current on their wormer. Lou has a bump on his rear end that needs to be assessed by a vet. I really do not want to separate them so I am looking for someone who will take them both. Please contact me for further information. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-12-28-00542Ruby (female)
There's no place like home. Ruby absolutely agrees and is ready for her fur-ever home. Ruby is one of the more senior ladies of the shelter, around 7 years old, spayed, UTD with her rabies vaccine, and available for adoption for a $30 adoption fee from Second Chance Shelter in Boaz, AL. Ruby is jet black with a very graceful smattering of white beginning on her long muzzle. Ruby does look like she has a good bit of lab and maybe a small amount of great dane, though these are just guesses.

Listed by shelter as 'Lab mix'. Please read completely: FOR INFORMATION ON THIS ANIMAL PLEASE CONTACT 256-883-3783. BE SURE TO HAVE ID# READY. Animals at this shelter are held a reasonable amount of time so at the time of posting it is adoptable and not in immediate danger. However, the time period is limited depending upon the shelter population. Please note: THE SHELTER IS FULL. If you are interested in fostering, the need is great and we would love to have you. If you are interested in adopting me: 1) Write down my Animal ID # . 2) Make sure to mention Animal ID # when visiting or calling. 3) Remember all adoptions stop 30 minutes prior to closing time. 3) You will not be allowed to place a hold on me. 4) I cannot be shipped to you. 5) Before adopting me, you can spend time with me outside or in a meet and greet room. Please ask for assistance. 6) We take cash, checks, debit cards, VISA and Mastercard as a method of payment. **IMPORTANT: Huntsville Animal Services cannot guarantee that I will still be available for adoption as we do not hold animals for anyone under any circumstances. Animals are adopted on a first come, first serve basis. You may want to call and ask if I am still available prior to visiting the shelter. When you adopt me, I will stay at the shelter and be taken to the veterinarian of your choice where I will be spayed or neutered before going to my new home. If I am already spayed or neutered, I can go home with you upon adoption. My adoption cost is very affordable and includes my adoption fee, spay/neuter, vaccinations, deworming, license (if you live within Huntsville city limits), a collar and personalized ID tag. Please know that a high percentage of animals in the shelter are brought in as strays. It is impossible to know anything about a stray animal and many times we can only make our best educated guess on breeds, age, etc. Every animal you see posted here has passed a general temperament test as performed by shelter staff and it is considered to be non-aggressive. ADOPTION FEES Dogs: $80 - 170 - includes spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, rabies voucher, deworming, *heart worm and flea/tick prevention; purebred dogs and puppies tend to cost more and dogs that have been in the shelter longer will probably cost less. Cats: The shelter is currently running a $35 special on cats. (regularly $80) - includes spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, feline aids/leukemia testing, rabies voucher, deworming, *heart worm and flea/tick prevention LICENSE FEES $10 - 1 year license $35 - Lifetime license EVERY ADOPTER RESIDING IN THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, AL WILL BE REQUIRED TO PURCHASE ONE OF THE ABOVE LICENSE OPTIONS AT TIME OF ADOPTION OPTIONAL SERVICES $10 - Heartworm test. Blood test known as the 'snap test' that shows when heart worm antigens are present in the blood. $20 - Microchip. Another line of defense to help you get your pet back in the event he/she is lost. This is especially recommended for those pets known to climb fences, chew collars/tags, etc. (Less)

Trolly and Freida have a special bond. This pair are the survivors of 4 brought into the pound, after the owner passed from cancer. Freida lost Bacall and would not leave the doghouse.Trolly was inside the pound by herself. These 2 girls have been brought back together and Freida has come to life. They are very well mannered, cared for, and trained. But must have a new home together, they have both lost so much. Freida is a dane mix and Trolly is a small pit mix.

PIease Read Before Adopting a Great Dane in Alabama
Great Dane Dogs can make good pets in Alabama if they match your IifestyIe. The Great Dane is an enormous, but extremely gentle breed often referred to as the Gentle Giant. Great Danes are kind, loyal, and sociable. They need to be around people. Great Danes are gentle, devoted, and wonderful with children, but should be supervised with little ones because of their large size. Great Danes should be well trained as puppies. Great Danes can live in an apartment with enough daily exercise but do best with a large yard.
